Actually, Psychiatry is the implementation of Psychology to help an individual overcome whatever mental concerns they've been having.

thus in order to learn about psychiatry they have to teach about the human mind so you can know how to detect the mental illness or stress.

so like I said, 2 birds with one stone
Edited by Delicon20 on Aug 2, 2011 at 10:57 AM

Not really.

Psychology has a number of branches. There's a lot of ways to look at the human mind. You could be a neo-Freudian and practice psychoanalysis where the patient lies on the couch (the most iconic part of psychology). Psychoanalysts do not require medical degrees, but believe that all problems can be solved by exploring the subconscious.

Psychotherapists, however, require a degree in psychology. This occupation STILL does not require a medical degree, but it deals more with the touchy-feely stuff that people rant about. Marriage counselors and school psychologists are essentially psychotherapists.

Psychologists are one step higher. Psychologists require four years of study or more in order to earn their doctoral degrees. These psychologists study and deal with those who suffer more than petty marriage or familial concerns.

Psychiatrists, the branch that you are referring to, however, are medical doctors. They are NOT required to learn about the human mind, but need to learn about the structure of the brain. Although some may utilize an eclectic approach and merge biopsychology and other branchs, mainly humanist or behaviorial psychology, psychiatrists are not required to study the human mind. For all they know, all this mumbo jumbo about subconsciousnesses and ids and superegos and whatnot is all utter bullcrap that doesn't exist. They deal, instead, in the physical manifestation of such diseases. In order to detect mental illnesses, for instance, they would consider certain chemical counts in the bloodstream or the brain of the patient. Learning about the human mind is NOT required in order to become a psychiatrist.

A simple analogy to understand that would be an art retailer. You don't have to be an expert in neoclassical styles to determine the worth of a painting; rather, you can tell just by the things you see, such as the age of the canvas or the specific paints that the artist used.

And yes, I've studied psychology so I know what I'm talking about :L

you're a master of proving people wrong :(

What are you talking about? The head and helmet on that models is way to big, completely out of proportion with the rest of the body. Reach models are proportioned correctly, as you might expect of a professional game studio.

Voicing full support of this.

Next on the agenda: can Hydrogen type an easily-readable and grammatically correct sentence without spelling errors?

Scale it up a bit. Halo Reach's heads are too small.

Use this as a guide, the proportions here are correct.

Too me I think the lower arms are too skinny.
And the helmet should be a little bit wider.

Or the spartan suits are massive suits of armour that SHOULD be big. The helmet should be a little bit wider yes, because helmets should give more protection. And the arms are likely too skinny because they're supposed to be armoured. Or are the spartans skeletons?

Nope, come on man, a big part of it is mobility, and besides from the aesthetic standpoint of game development, it looks stupid for some dude to be walking around with a giant head, especially when it is supposed to be a copy of an asset that is already in-game.

I did the effect. I'm using h2 contrail, standard C. smoke, and h2 sparks. I tried to use the minimum of particles, so it doesnt kills the engine like CMT's

Edit : It's taller now.

Those suits have to survive the vacuum of space, plus they're layered with feedback and sensory systems, armor plating, and animotronics to help the user actually move that half-ton suit, of course it's thick...

It's a powered suit, not clothing, it's thick because of the machinery underneath. even astronaut suits use animotronics.

Omega Boost intro skip to 1:35 for a better example of how the MJOLNIR suit is supposed to act.
