It doesn't take just take knowledge (of a program), it also takes some sort of creativity to make good looking effects (I'm sure talent comes in here somewhere).

I haven't looked at the argument you guys are making, all I know is it's Cheddars vs someone.

Just dropping my two cents.

Si senor, thank you for you two cents, I have cheddars, petera and Idltp on my back, because I am not fond of rippers who don't make custom content.

Annnnnndddddddd nope. It does take talent as well, to make working effects as well as knowledge of how the tagging works.

And @ idwhat ever your name is, it is actually a fairly complicated weapon tag modification.

Also at both of you, now that cheddars has seen fit to come to your rescue, if you are interested you might want to check the rest of my xfire videos, considering that you seem to thing that the plasma launcher tagging is my only CE work. Most of which is particle and weapon effects.

Nope. I have made custom content before. I agree that it takes creativity to make projectiles but your bassicaly copying the reach projectile

Cheddars, the projectile isnt the point of it anyways, the projectile is simple, it is the weapon tagging that goes along with it that took the most time and effort.

WTF? He wouldn't have called it a "plasma launcher" if that's all he did. It scales how many shots to fire based on how long it's charged, and the meter on the side goes up to indicate how charged it is as you hold down the trigger.

You have no idea what I'm talking about, do you? Nevermind then, back on topic.

I never implied or said that anyone who cant model, shouldn't me modding. You lost the argument near the top of the page, quit posting already. Also, you and cheddars should take a look at the AR a couple posts up. That is an example of what he should be doing.

What? Should I edit other peoples models? (I like the textures though there cool :)). and who are you to tell me what I SHOULD do.My life is my life and I can do what I want and you can't stop me. I can troll, flame and get banned all I want if I WANT to, but why would I. I can also unwrap models all I want so go have a cry. Your not gonna stop me from unwrapping models -_-.Also stop bitching on xfire about how your fuel rod guns projectileand effects requires talent and uvw unwrapping SOMEHOW doesnt because that's just retarded. He never lost the argument btw.

Now gtf back on topic and stop being a jerk, reviving this argument.

Lol, you are just as pathetic as he is. Don't get mad now bro. What you are doing requires no talent, just knowledge of a program. If you were to make the texture then it would require talent, simple as that.
ya it takes talent 2 maek fuel rod shoots 3 @ a time!!!

Bro, you are awesome, my buddy kvasir and I also have done some work with those animations. He also made a custom sound for the reload and the overheat.

IVEE (and Kva too), why are you using the charge-shot for the regular fire-1?...

I mean, it does make it look powerful but really weird looking at the same time xD
Unless that is the regular shot, which I have a feeling it isn't.

I think it actually is - I was pretty much just messing around with the idea and made animations as if it was a heavy slow-firing weapon. In any case it's nothing that a little DIY work can't fix.

You think you could make that a video response to the Animating with Teh Lag video? Might be nice if people could see it ingame from there.

Do grenades count as weapons?

I sure hope so...
Anyhoo, just a random grenade that I started working on, 'cause I'm bored... Didn't use any refs, or anything so it ain't gonna look anything like a real grenade...
It was also a very quick model, so it's not particularly well done.
If you want it, i'll give it to you. If your gonna hate, stuff it, atleast tell me what to fix.

Sincerely,

Amazingimnot

Although it can be tempting, don't make grenades a perfect sphere. Most grenades arent.
Your grenade already looks mostly like this one:

So I would just elongate the sphere into an ellipse shape. Don't bother with actually modelling in the squares though, since it's a grenade it won't be seen much.

Oh, the safety pin looks like it could stand to lose a few polies. I don't know how many it is now, but I'd go with 8 sides for the cylinders, and remove some of the edge loops on the circular part.

That said I think you could do more with the connecting part (?) not sure what it's called, but right now you just have a cube. Don't make it super complex or anything, but just search grenade on google and see how those grenades don't have a perfect cube on top of the body of the grenade.

Hope this helps.

This is the closest I found to a sphere grenade, but if you look closely you can see how even this one looks like the top has been squished down, and isn't a perfect sphere.

Thanks, broseph.
I'll do some-more work on it later today, or tomorrow. The silly pin (which needs some work. ) is actually only 3 sides, so it's only like 100 polys, seeing as I don't see point in using many more polys, for such a small thing.

Moses released it for the public, and Infafudafi used it in his "Another Stupid Campaign Mod" where it was animated by ICEE. The mod is open sourced.
