I need someone to animate my gun, any chance you could find time ODX?
Edited by Maniac1000 on Aug 10, 2010 at 06:17 PM

I could animate it. You mean that Kriss super Vector thingy? By Vector mod I meant a modded KsV.

Yes I could animate it.

Would give me something to do while I wait for stuff.

Love that snipah ASP grunt. Don't see anything wrong off-hand.

Corvette just always show the bloody origins, no one cares if you're an "origin pro" because really...you aren't.

Your thumb makes no sense, the rest of the fingers on the handle are crooked. The gripping fingers aren't together either, and the thumb gripping the gun in front I have no comment because I can't really see it too well. That's the beauty of having a screen blocking it I guess.

Couldn't get the right thumb in a good position without making the entire right hand in a totally awkward position..
I wanted to see a small part of the right hand in the actual origins.. Which is also why it's so ugly looking :P

Quote: --- Original message by: ODX
The gripping fingers aren't together either

The grip is super fat, also I put the left hand in a realistic way, so the you pretty much hold the rifle with your index and middle finger... while your ring and pinky just rest on it with the tips..
Atleast that's how I hold rifles.

I guess I consider myself "good at origins" because what I make appeals to me.. Everything I do is in my own taste, and fits what I personally want, while others... do not. Most origins people make today are just lame in my own eyes. I guess I just don't like what's out there and like what I do on my own... so, I guess that's why I considered myself better than the average person.

The point of the matter is you asked us on our thoughts and concerns of your origins. We all dislike the thumb so you can choose to fix it or not; but if you don't fix it don't give us garbage posts like above.

If you're going to ask us on our own opinions then take it rather than throwing it aside.

In other news here are some origins I've been working on. PR is just for fun aswell as the assault rifle.
All model and textures are crated by Bungie.

Making what appeals to you is always good, but until you're an experienced animator and know what the hell you're doing, what's right and what's wrong, and people can point out your animations and be like "Oh hey [name] animated that! I know for sure!], your opinions mean much less than mine or another more experienced animator.

Who exactly are you looking at? Of course all the new animators now-a-days (please, stop learning animation and go learn skinning. We need more of those >_>) aren't going to be 'up to snuff' with you, as you have been in the art longer than them. But people like me, Broke, Teh Lag, ICEE and HDoan, know what we're doing and know what to look for, how to judge and say "Damn, that's a pretty nice origin, though I would perhaps fix [this]."
If you somehow don't like any of us, then I'm deeply confused.

There is no 'average person' in animation. Once you reach around 1-1.5 years of animating experience, you separate massively and grow into your own style of animating. After that, comparisons are very much impossible to make. You become judged on how creative and original your animation is, not the overall execution because at the point you are at...weight and speed should pretty much be burned near-perfectly into your mind and there should be no jolts or odd movements as you should be able to pick them out easily and fix them swiftly before public showing.

There is no excuse.

Basically what I meant by is I honestly, truly don't really care what others think of what I make. It's to my personal liking. I also didn't post a single thing about animation, as I wasn't ever actually doing animations... Just the origins... I also really don't care about your "experience as an animator" that you apparently like to bring up because I see it in like 75% of your posts... Anyways I made what I wanted. If the person who I made the origins for doesn't like them, then they're more than welcome to not use them. If an "experienced animator" like your or HDoan think they're garbage, then feelings aren't hurt. I was actually trying to do stuff like this to contribute SOMETHING around here... Because I've been in the CE community since late 2006, and what have I released around here? Nothing :P I'm just actually trying to do something for people because I haven't done anything before. I personally thought my origins were kick-ass, but apparently not.. So be it :P Let someone else do it.

Now that is a SOPMOD!
For something weird gun wise put a BR scope on the CMT sniper_v2. Looks odd. /offtopic

I like the way the fingers are and I don't see anything wrong with the thumbs.
That is how I hold my 12-Gauge.

Do you people think that the BR-55 looks a lot like the FAMAS?

I don't recall me ever 'bragging' or saying much about my animating experience. I only [perhaps] do so when people on Xfire or Youtube (CS:S animators included) start to piss me off because they don't listen to me and they live in their little fantasy world thinking "Oh my origins and animations are fine! Everyone loves them!" because truth be told they're horrible. I'm trying to help you, because I know what I'm talking about.

I've said it before and this is just one of those other things I can never stress enough: ignore praise from 'nobodies' and try to focus mainly on the critique you get from other people who are exposed and experienced in the art.

I'm not acting supreme by saying 'nobodies' either, I'm mainly referring to those random people on your Youtube who go "OMG SO COOL THIS IS AWESOME BETTER THEN BUNGIE/INFINITY WARD/ETC." Sure, their comments are nice and they have good intention (I have almost nothing against those people), but listening to them isn't going to get you anywhere.

Actually it is helpful. Normally those nobodies are the people who play the game and that's all. I mean, no offense to those people but they don't know what they are talking about with some of that stuff. They just like whats in-game. Almost nothing against them? Although you should listen to them because they will give you an idea of what people will think. Also listen to the "experts" on the subject.

So yeah. I say nothing else 'cause I can't think of anything else to say...
