I dont think you'll wanna animate a hipoly subd model. Over 9000 polys, expect the finished product to be 50,000 polys.

Unless of course he goes all the way, and models a low poly to bake the hipoly for a normal map.

This was a model I made for a project back before the semester ended. Just kinda playing around with render settings, also thinking about making the low poly and finishing this up when I get free time.

Don't like some of the renders where the blue is more evident, probably going to fix that. Feedback on model would be awesome before I start to do the low poly

I like the amount of detail you put in, even the very small things.

Not many people reload with their right hand unless they are left handed :/ which btw is the minority of the population.

The reload should be done with the left hand. The only time you should reload with your right hand is if your left handed like I am, otherwise It's unnecessary.

Animating for video games, especially Halo, has a basis in aesthetics, not realism.

If you don't know what that means it means this: screw realism, go for it looking pretty.

lol I'm not even left-handed, I just thought it would be fun to try something different for once, taking inspiration from teh lag's old shotgun reload.

Once you downsize it to fit the other pickup icons, most of that internal detail will be gone.

I'm left handed and reload both right and left, and I am a sharp shooter with my left, I got probs only with bolt action sniper rifles when holding it left.

And its Halo, animations dont need to be realistic and im sure a spartan can hold the front of the gun with his left hand and reload with his right, same for a marine or odst.

the first thing i noticed was the way the gun moved a lot when you are idle. Tone that down a bit, because ya. And also the melee needs to have more umpf to it. Right now it looks like "you're going through the motions", remember that it's a melee, a bash to the head, not a bop. Otherwise, it looks pretty decent.

The melee needs more force and the firing still looks like you're firing a pistol (the barrel's side lifts up more than it should). Look at the Halo3 BR animations to know for sure what I mean about the firing animation.

Except that Teh Lag's reload actually made sense and had perfect execution. Yours, makes absolutely no sense and just looks plain awful.
...I hope that doesn't sound too offensive.

Its the grenade launcher from halo reach.
I like your model, only thing bothering me, is the shape of the grip.
