If you want iron sights to do more then just aim you'll have to use the old way of making them a scope mask. With that you actually get zoom and accuracy increase

and that^ looks kind of terrible. i think the achievement here is figuring out how to do it with animations as more of a visual thing than a gameplay element.

Been tweaking stuffs.  Bitmaps extracted by me, edited by Onotix. It's red urban because I was experimenting with that one at the time. Model extracted by Spartan, animations by IMBrokeRU. Shaders tweaked by me. Firing sound has been completely redone due to complaints *cough*, but aren't shown in this picture (for obvious reasons). Full echo, no bullet pinging sound. some people figured out some way to like... jump, go prone, and sight in with an acog at the same time. with the m40a4 and stopping power you can usually one shot people unless theyre using juggernaut.

Try a little bit of a lighter texture, and maybe a more worn out look (like random scratches, on the corners) but lightly, nothing too heavy.
But from what I see, that is very acceptable for any game =) heck, Call of Duty itself looks like they made a map based on Halo

your picture before made it look like it had some semblance of a normal map applied to it. was that the source of the graininess or was it something else? i like it without the grainy but with the depth look to it.

the picture on that halo 2 map above. im looking mainly at the little tick marks behind the rear iron sight. they look more pronounced in the previous picture. more so than the one you just posted.
you said you removed that grainy effect. i was asking if that increased depth look on the tick marks was a part of the grainy effect, or if they were two separate things. i liked how the tick marks were more pronounced before, but i also like the texture to not be grainy. i didnt know if those two things came from the same source or not
