Maybe being on here at such a young age was a bad idea, but I made many lifelong friends on this site and not only got to make a bunch of cool stuff with them, but get a headstart into hopefully making a true career out of games.
My favorite memory on this site is making my first post after lurking for a year about how cool it'd be to see a true pre release Halo mod based on Macworld, etc. Only to be bullied by other forum members to play Lumoria (no hard feelings to that mod, it's great). I'm now one of the people working on the Digsite project for MCC. Funny how that stuff works honestly.
Thanks for the memories Dennis! I still use this forum a lot whenever running into the most random of H1EK problems but I know that knowledge will live on through archives at least.
Hi all, on Saturday, September 3, 2022 7 PM Pacific we will be having our second annual VKMT Community Showcase, featuring a plethora of mods across all the Halo games (including of course, Halo Custom Edition).
Mark your calendars, grab some snacks and maybe some friends because there will be a lot of content to check out. If you missed the old days of CE3, this will be return of that style of showcase you've been waiting for.
Showcase will video premiere on
and if you want to check out last years, here's the link for that too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c6Vx1n8fSM
Hope to see many old faces there
came to the forum quick to grab a download link and saw we're halo 3 posting now? alright I'll join in
Model is Marcus Lehto's.
lets form a mapping team for it
Quote: --- Original message by: sshers4 Now that developers have released official halo 2 and halo 3 modding tools do you think we should get a new board section for halo 3?
that'd be funny I think let's do it
Quote: --- Original message by: The Master Can't agree more honestly, even when they try to centralize everything *coughreclaimerscough* it's all a steaming pile of dung that doesn't get archived in any way and will probably get deleted within two or three years because one admin called another one a mean word and he went AWOL. At least with forum drama it's more difficult for people to delete wealths of knowledge (not the case here since dennis mass deletes entire accounts over petty stuff) There's also the fact you can have multiple people asking about stuff simultaneously in a modding subforum whereas a modding channel is way harder to moderate because people can't be arsed to see if it's being used by someone else. That said, having people respond within seconds and being able to hold a conversation in real time is really neat and useful
This is completely valid and true, not a fan of how Discord is the biggest choice as it's an overall pedophilic service with how it's run that lacks any real soul. Forums were, still are a wonderful piece of communication but it's sad their time died like this. OpenCarnage is technically the new spot, but there's a weird lack of incentive for me to go on there besides mod releases.
I just hope any further documentation and everything else gets properly archived and preserved. Thankfully halomaps still exists at all because while old I find the information here still good to have. I also plan on working with some of my bros and getting tutorials out and I'll probably just make any questions asked their own video as well just so there's absolutely no question of it getting lost or hard to find.
Your reasons are a bit more valid than being upset you decided to act shizophrenic.
Quote: --- Original message by: Piano Wonderful. With the shader fixes and now this, I might actually buy the MCC this year. It's too bad the modding community is just a bunch of Discord cliques up their own asses, or I'd be more excited.
Even if this was true, why care? Most of us left are just hobbyists trying to have fun. If other people ruin you're excitement you were already excited for the wrong reason. hi jade
Anyways...
Messing around with the tools, they're fantastic, and that's something I don't lightly say about most things 343 does. Lot's of quality of life improvements and with FBX to JMS/JMA alongside Blender tools in development there's more inventive than ever to finally leave 3DS Max in the trash. Hope more Open Sauce features (especially shaders) make it in but what's here already is promising.
I sent a private message to you, for future reference this forum has seen better days and the frequent area of discussion typically occurs on Discord now (for better or worse)

no
Return of another king.

They really seem to hate halomaps even though there's literally only one post per week on this website. And it's not even about anything controversial, just that boring tag ripping program. Nothing else ever happens here.
It's like yelling at a blade of grass. What a strange person
The fact that it's true makes it more depressing.

Of course one persons actions totally reflect everyone outside of that server and on here, it really sure makes a lot of sense. He's been spamming a lot of us gore and other shock content on discord and most of us have already done trust and safety reports on him.
Some people are truly zany characters nowadays. It actually has nothing to do with ME making that decision, the team as a whole decided to do it, which we all support. He's outraged because he's a raging racist and anti semite as evident by everything he's done.
Nothing wrong with it being a team thing either, my point frankly still stands. While I can see how people /could/ view your teams initial statement as a little "try-hardy" and brand Twitter esque with everything going on I also don't see how it's worth being even more try-hardy to care so much.

Thanks for the transparency here Dennis, glad to see everything is okay and that you're staying safe as well.
You can do that, or you can have it be a white diffuse with color change set up in the multipurpose alpha and in the shaders like a real chad.
Not sure what you mean by everyone, seeing as how there have been people supporting the game with maps that have the same level of quality as stock for a while.
I think MCC has already significantly reduced the number of port mods as well as there really isn't a point anymore. Porting back in the day was the fact that many couldn't play it on PC. The rest of the people still porting either can't run the newer games on their PC or just don't care, but that's not up to me to judge.
For me personally, it's been an opportunity to go back to some of the nostalgia for simpler and more fun mods such as Coldsnap and Extinction, and is the basis for the new content I'm making with my friends.
I'm not sure where MCC will take CE modding as the process for converting maps right now is underwhelming and some of the backend changes are a bit worrying, but I'm still enjoying myself and I think there will be resurgence of more classical type mods now too.
Quote: --- Original message by: BioGoji1989 How effective is the tag extraction? Does it also extract all necessary dependencies related to the selected tag?
How extensively has this program been tested for quality?
It's a scam

You're trying to import animations from a game that came out almost 10 years after the maxscript you're trying to use?

Reach extraction is still not available.
