Hey guys, I just got my new Vista comp(I KNOW). As I thought it's loaded with bugs and it is nowhere near enjoyable. Now, I have a couple of compatibility questions to ask arond so I guess here is the good place.
First, the VISTA won't allow me to create a -console shortcut. any idea why and how to fix?
2, the thing will not allow me to directly extract from desktop to Halo CE maps folder.
3, sound is all echo
4 no longer any blueish fog on hugeass and other big maps with a Geforce 6150LE 256MB Shared
any help toward those concerns would be appreciated.

First it should.. .duno why.
2. It works for me
3. I had that problem too... I either got used to it or I fixed it somehow.... oh yeh in the sound thing (on vista not CE) there are 2 sliders (speaker and vista) or something like that... drag them both to the top. then set the normal volume (should move both sliders) to what you want and it's fixed.
4. There has never been bluish fog on hugeass...

any help toward those concerns would be appreciated. You must've gotten a bad copy of Vista then, because I have Vista and as does my best friend, and it's not even CLOSE to buggy. 1: It should. By changing the target parameters, even in Vista (which is hardly much different than XP to be honest), it should set it that way when you click Apply/OK. 2: Again, there shouldn't be a problem with that. I don't know what's wrong with your OS, but that's not a standard Vista problem. 3: That's your sound card then, not Vista. The OS doesn't change the sound quality at all. 4: There never was blue fog in the first place.

I will tell you this, NVidia is not recommended for Vista. A lot of people have had to get new cards because Nvidia just blacks out on it sometimes. Don't know which cards specifically, but some are just...screwy. I can't run Vista 'cuz of my card, but I've _used_ Vista numerous times. I love it.
As to that fog, that's just strange. I've never seen that at all, but there was a gray fog in the distance in Coldsnap, Extinction, Hugeass, and Downflow, any similar sized maps.
But I have no clue why the first two problems are occuring. Are you set to Administrator, maybe?

I checked and am admin. sitll gives me the denied acces to halo.
I did get those blackouts aswell.... came when loading the comp the first time. never had anything like this after. as for that fog, I think it made hugeass look infinatly better....and I've never played extinction and other such maps because they lagged too much hehe

Hm. Are you running on Home Basic, Home Premium, or Ultimate? I've used Home Premium at a friends house, but never checked the shortcut thing. Even so, there _is_ a preset file in the Program Files called "Halo Custom Edition Developer Mode" that already has the -console -devmode tags in the shortcut. Ultimate, I _know_ you can change the shortcut, 'cuz I've done it. Home Basic however, is pretty pathetic, so I dunno if it even has that feature in the first place. Lmao.

I fixed the shortcut thing after numerous resets but what I can tell you, is that the "devmode" originAL link was damaged when I tryed it.
NVM Thanks reboots seem to have fixed the whole thing... anyway.
There's another question: I need to transfer some files(alot) from my old computer to this one. the other one is on XP Pro SP2 and this one is Vista . Both are on LAN. "Shared files" Does NOT work over my computer and therefore I need another way to move backups and files to my newer computer( notably photoshop files, Halo CE maps, Starcraft programs...)
Any chance you can help me on that one? Edited by OpsY on Jul 3, 2007 at 09:46 PM
