Windows Vista is a disaster waiting to happen..they are just going to piss off all the H2V players

Sons of a fruited pumpkin patch i am going to hate that. Bungiee and Mircosoft are being so stupid with this. Not only do we got to Buy windows vista, we got to but Halo 2 Vista and then pay for vista live..wtf. And that is not to mention if you have to buy a new CPU just to run vista. I question if it was a wise business decision. There are alot of costs involved with playing H2V.

I probably won't be getting H2 for along time till after its out.

I feel sorry for the people that can go out and buy H2V and can actually play it on their computers. Cause the community will be so small at first. Stupid mircosoft trying to screw over all of us loyal Halo PC fans. I agree this might be the end of PC online play as we know it.

Well there will still be some of us loyal to Halo CE for awhile when H2V comes out. There will still be a large number of people who won't be able to get Halo 2 vista for awhile.

That will be funny lol. I wonder since Vista is supposed to be so much secure than XP and other OS's will more people have trouble running servers?

It's very easy to defend yourself from viruses if you actually got good virus protection.

Ummm, just to tell you, modded xboxes are illegal, I'm pretty sure soft modding too, so don't say it isn't, and 360 is definitely, because to my knowledge, you can't soft mod it.

Never heard of it being illegal personally. Not saying that it isn't but i never heard of that. It sure would totally void the warranty for the system that is for sure. So make sure you don't totally mess it up.

Any modification of an xbox is illegal. Including soft modding. It voids your warranty, and to make the mods work, that mod chip actually hacks into the xbox BIOS, and it unlocks many things that the xbox can do, but isnt allowed under the normal BIOS, bassically, the chip is a replacement BIOS that overrides the normal one. In doing that, it allows you to rip and pirate games, which is illegal, also it lets you do fun things in game. The old xbox may not require the mod chip for you to mod, but I've heard that it also is illegal. (Softmodding) To my knowledge, there is no Action Replay Xbox 360, so you would need a mod chip, meaning its illegally modded.

Just so you dont change your post saying that you had a modded 360......

Okay, let's clear some things up.

H2V is not cross-platform. Windows Live is, but only for a few games, and H2V is not one of them.

If you have a GOLD Xbox Live membership, Windows Live (GOLD) comes free. This does not mean that Silver owners get it, nor does it mean getting Windows Live will give you Xbox Live access.

Windows Live's Silver access is free, the only differences is that GOLD gives you Online Matchmaking access like in consoles, Multiplayer Achievement Awards, and etc. Silver has MUCH better software for in-game chat and voice conferences than XFire can ever hope to have, and will be so much easier.

H2V would not even be able to run on XP in the first place, due to how high-tech the software is. XP couldn't handle it, it's too low of an OS, which is why they waited for Vista in the first place. That, in a nutshell, shows that Vista is -worth- the upgrade, because it's more high-tech.

[Edit: Also, I forgot to mention something. Not flaming, but I kinda laugh at you who complain about Home Basic being like $100. If you have XP Pro. Don't downgrade. =P Home Basic is a DOWNGRADE from XP Pro. The only upgrades from it are Premium, Business, and Ultimate. Home Basic is only higher than XP Home and older OS'es. I only laugh because it's just a bit amusing. I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing at a slight lack of knowledge. But, now you know. =] That's all.]

hmm maybe halo 3 will be cross platform play.... why not? other than the fact that we will get schooled by the vetrans there will be alot of fun.

When he said recover, he meant to have it for Windows live, recover really isnt the right word, and yet, MS uses it.

whats the point in windows live and xbox live? wouldn't we all be happier if it was free?
i think silver should let you play online.....and gold should be all the things that silver gives you..when you think about windows\xbox live is all about the multiplayer to me...

I mean...the playstation online service is free, less laggy, allows you to host with your console.......what more do you want?

As I said, Windows Live is free for Silver. Xbox Live costs money for the availability for it and everything that's included. Gold IS all the things that Silver gives you, for both, AND MORE. And when you think about "xbox/windows live", it's not just the multiplayer online gaming, it's more to it. You'd have to get it to understand.

Along with such, you know why PS3 and PS2 had free online play? Because it's not organized, and it's not very high-tech. That's like playing on DSLite (1.5 mbps) at the most, no matter what your internet speed is, with matchmaking like that on Yahoo pool or Candystand's bowling. =/ Very horrible quality. That's why Xbox Live costs money, because the quality is so much better, matchmaking is nearly perfect, and the speed of your internet is completely the same for gaming. Not to mention Sony's internet setup has no friends list to find out where your friend is, what game he's playing, etc, online offline, send messages, nor does it have good voice quality, or any of that. And I'm not bashing on Sony, because honestly? I love the PS2. I can't say about the PS3, I didn't like all the bugs that it had and issues people have submitted, and obviously if it never sold out once compared to the Xbox 360 or the Wii, it doesn't have as good of sales which insists it wasn't that great of system in the long run... But the PS2 was one of the best consoles of it's generation, with the only downside being that it couldn't play music in-game like Xbox had capability of in some games... but it had a lot of better games and control for most games, other than FPS. =] I'm getting a PS2 supposedly, if my friend ever ships it here. >>; And my best friends, both of 'em, have PS2's and I hang out at their houses a lot to play against 'em. =] Online play just sucked on them, and Xbox Live was so awesome.
