Hello, first of all I apologize if I am misusing the forum but I have a question I would really appreciate an answer to.

I want to make a ui.map that doesn't have the option for multiplayer. Is making this even possible? I have been looking at all the different resources I could find for making a custom UI map but I couldn't find anything talking about how to change the options on the main menu.

Again i apologize if I am breaking a rule or creating a duplicate topic but I would appreciate help on this subject.

I haven't looked into UI stuff much myself
But I'd guess that it is possible
After all, there's the UI with the campaign option omitted.
I've known only a handful of people that have done stuff with UI though, hopefully you can figure it out like they somehow have.

I hope it is possible, the UI without the campaign is what made me think it is possible.
I am going to keep trying but I would greatly appreciate any assistance from someone who knows more about this kind of change.

To start; Replace your tags folder with a default install or ensure that all UI.map related files are not in the tags folder.

Using HEK+, open a copy of Halo PC's UI.map

NOT THE HALO CUSTOM EDITION COPY. You need the copy from default Halo.

This extract will contain the tags that reference and include the campaign option. Now open Kornmanv2, or Guerilla if that's all you have. You should look into Kornman immediately.

Open the tag UI\shell\main_menu\main_menu_select_list.ui_widget_definition

Browse to the bottom; There are reflexives with "load_campaign_item", etc. Select the one that lists "multiplayer item" This is the multiplayer main menu option, by deleting this it will remove the option entirely. You can then use the "Vertical Offset" and "Horizontal Offset" values to move the other options around the screen as you see fit. Play around with values and use Tool to build the map, see what your changes and make adjustments until you're satisfied.

I followed everything recommended but I am having issues using the Tool to build the map. Is there anything I should read or watch to further understand this? Is there someone out there that would make a video showing what to do? I would greatly appreciate that kind of assistance.

Could you describe in better detail what issues you're having with Tool? Are you running it through CMD?

That's a video showing a custom UI.map tutorial, but it won't cover removing the Multiplayer option.

Edit: saw your other post: You need to extract all the tags from the UI.map using HEK+

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVxXTDfdduc

Follow that video using UI.map, and extract recursively ALL of the tags in the map using original folder names. Then attempt to build the map again.

I have got the tool working and got the map to build, but when ever I load the game the main menu doesn't have either the multiplayer or the campaign.

I used the ui.map from the original Halo Combat Evolved so it would have the Campaign option.
then I Opened the tag UI\shell\main_menu\main_menu_select_list.ui_widget_definition
and removed the multiplayer item and I did not touch the campaign item but when I build the map and load the game neither of the options show up.

What errors am I making?
I followed the videos and the advice I was given.

So I made a slight error back there. I didn't think that your already have the tag I mentioned above. Right now the main_menu_select_list is the custom edition version. 2 ways to fix;

Step 1: Delete the Tag.
Step 2: Re-extract UI.map.

OR

Step1: Open UI.map in HEK+
Step 2: Browse to the ui_main_menu_select tag.
Step 3: Right click/extract ONLY the menu select tag, and UNCHECK 'Recursively' and CHECK 'overwrite files'

Either way you'll have the stock version of the tag. Repeat original steps and you should be good to go.

PS: NEVER USE HEK+ TO EXTRACT A FULL MAP WITH 'Overwrite' ENABLED.
HEK+ is imperfect and some random tags get extracted wrong, this makes sapien and guerilla unable to work until the tags are fixed or replaced with correct ones
