Hello everyone, I'm ofter not home when playing Halo and I really prefer the Xbox Controller istead of mouse and keyboard.
But the DeadZone is really low, I've red about 10% and it's horrible.
Know any solution?

I used the xbox 360 controller and the deadzoning was always an issue. That said, my solutions to problems (that were persistent) was to use Xpadder for the WASD emulation and enable reticle_magnetism 1 command.

The right analog stick would always be a bit sensitive, but it worked well enough.

Before I used the 360 controller, I would use an original Xbox controller because the drivers (made by some guy\team) were really good and allowed for control of deadzoning on buttons, triggers, and sticks.

(I used to make my own Xbox-to-USB cables, but you can buy them now)

I think it depends which version you use. My cutoff is when you started having to pay for the program...

And also, I only used it for the ESC and WASD key emulation.

Here's a guide for how to setup XPadder for use with Halo: http://teambeyond.net/forum/topic/11775-current-state-of-halo-pc-the-xbox-experience/page-4#entry654660

AFAIK there's nothing that can be done about the right stick's deadzone.

Also it's player_magnetism 1, not reticle_magnetism 1

Unless you use a controller with drivers that allow for the changes. The only ones I know of are the XBCD and DS4 drivers (original xbox controller and PS4 controller)

Have you tested the original Xbox controller? How do you get it connected via USB? Did you make your own connector?

This is of great interest to me, I have a bunch of Xbox guys in my Discord group that would love to be able to play with the controller they're used to, and correct the deadzones for both sticks :)

I originally made mine by cutting the original controller's cable extension thingy (the removable one) and wiring it to the end half of a USB cable (that supports data transfer, not just power).

Basically just splice the red to red, green to green, black to
Black, and white to white. The xbox adapter has a yellow cable that is unnecessary in this case.

Here are the parts if you want to build your own (I'd be willing to provide better instructions via PM if necessary)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0064QNH68/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1455916776&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=original+xbox+controller+adapter

Any USB extension cable that transfers data will do fine, I just linked one for a visual reference.

Don't forget the drivers: http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html

Turns out (after some quick reading) that this driver may support the 360 controller

http://vba-m.com/forum/thread-668.html

I haven't tried the XBCD driver on Windows 10, so good luck if that's the case. Do a little research and you may find out a lot.
