Hello Halomaps, With the recent release of 002's stable lead script, I've been wondering what other improvements may be possible. The way I see it, these are main issues with network performance:
- Shot-lead/registration - fixed, or at least much improved & fully acceptable.
- Rubberbanding (players warp when they come into contact with other players): outstanding issue
- Warping (the netcode doesn't handle high speeds very well - this applies to players, equipment & vehicles): outstanding issue
As usual, I'll reiterate that all this stuff is voodoo to me (that's why I'm calling out to you fine folks). I know that there is a SAPP/HAC2 (?) command (its exact name eludes me at the moment - and it seems to be undocumented) that increases the player update rate, so that the active player doesn't warp around as much. NeX was talking about how if it were set too low (higher frequency), it would increase bandwidth usage. There is also the custom_sleep SAPP command that can apparently improve reg, but I have no idea how it works. Are these two commands of any use for this sort of thing? Could someone explain the above commands in depth? Can anything else be done to mitigate these issues? Can a Lua script be of any use for this sort of thing? Keep in mind that I host a 4-player server, so I imagine that most side-effects (ex: bandwidth consumption) that are related to having a full 16-player server don't really concern me personally.

This greatly improves the visual feedback when you land a hit. Currently I'm only running the fix on one map (xbox_hotbox_h1.5_rc_final) and it is only applied to the pistol. You can obtain the map from HAC2's automatic downloads by joining on of my 3 servers (Good Map Ya *****).
