Take it easy man here there's a lot of new players everyday and nobody can judge them about they don't konw how to do something.

Back of the topic you are making something wrong when you put the tags, you forget a step but I don't know which cos I haven't mod a map for several years.

The likely issue is that your actual player is not using the Z-team player animations. The reason you cant pick them up is because your weapon labels in the Z-team pack are set to their own setup as opposed to the H1 setup

go into the .biped slot of your player and have it use the Z-Team Spartan's animation in the model animations slot

yes. in order to pick the weapons up with regular halo 1 tags and such, you have to manually open each of the .weapon files you want to use, scroll down to the $$$WEAPON$$$ section or somewhere around there, and look right below a long checklist. you'll see a box that says something about "labels" and it will have one or maybe two lowercase letters in there. for rifles and smgs and such, just change these to "ar" for the best effect, and change pistols and whatnot to "hp". if you need any more help, i'll keep an eye on this thread

EDIT:
zteam's halo 1 biped animations also do not have all of the proper 3p weapon animations to utilize all of the weapons in their pack, and setting up the h3 spartan to even remotely work is probably more trouble than it's worth in your case

You also need to set the node list checksum of the gbxmodel to 0.

Using jesse's h3 biped fixed everything for me.

Alright, I came across this problem a while back. Thankfully Yoda was there to guide me.

Before we start let me explain what I think is the problem (correct me if I am wrong u guyz)

So. The whole reason you can't pick up a zteam weapon is because the weapon label string that they use are different to what the biped player you are playing as is setup for.

Simply put if the biped isn't setup for the custom 3p anims the weapon label demands then it won't work.

There is a simple fix for this however, which would simply be setting the custom label to a default label string which any biped can use.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

1. To do this first of all open up guerilla or konrmann, then hit open or ctrl+A:

2. Navigate to the weapon file of the weapon you want to edit the label for:

(in this case I used the default ar weapon tag which is in: tags\weapons\assault_rifle)

3. Scroll 35% down the weapon tag window and inside the "$$$Weapon$$$" rollout should be the label dialog.

Now this is important a zteam weapon may use a string label similar to:

br/kr/cz/smg/nr

Or something along those lines, all you need to do is change it to a default label string. You can find these default labels inside all of the default weapon tag files.

(Plasma rifle, Plasma Pistol, Shotgun, Pistol, Rocket launcher e.t.c)

4. I changed the label from br to ar which is a default label, from there all you need to do is save the tag file, recompile the map and try picking up the weapon in-game.

One thing to note is: Each of the default labels use diffent third person animations, so if you have a custom pistol you might want to edit the label to "pi" which is the standard label string for the u.n.s.c pistol.

Like I said if you wish to find others then you simply need to scrutinize other default weapon label strings.

- Hope this helps!

I can't even finish extracting with hek+ because it fails when it gets to the zteam weapons :P so how do I edit it if it fails to extract?

If your talking about this:

http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=6654

Then all you need to do is extract the files then copy and paste them into your halo tags directory.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\Tags

Once you have pasted the folder in the tags directory the address in My Computer should look like this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\Tags\zteam

The Hek+ is only used to extract assets out of unprotected pre-built map files.

What kind of error.

You may be able to find some of the stuff you need from the first post of this thread.

I have only had success extracting tags from Halo PC maps, not Halo Custom Edition maps.

Okay, sorry for not getting back to you...I've been a bit busy lately and haven't got an opportunity to try out your suggestion. I give it a shot tonight if I get some free time and I'll let you know the results.

If it works. Welcome 2 the new unapproved moderator of halomaps u guyz.
