Hi.

As the subject title reads I'm trying to change the post game carnage report image which is displayed at the end of a match, listing all the stats of the game.

I'm also interested in changing the loading screen which is displayed as you enter a server.

- Post game carnage

- Loading map

Can anyone direct me to the appropriate work flow which should be used in order to swap these images with completely custom ones like these?

And have them working in a MP map?

I know that this modified bitmaps.map needs to be used in conjunction with the implementation of a custom PGC and/or loading screen image but I need a detailed guide on how it's done, because every time I try something it fails.

Perhaps it's best to outline what I already know?

The directory of both the images is:

ui\shell\bitmaps\

The input field for the post game carnage report is located within the: tags\ui\hud\default.hud_globals.tag

What I don't understand is:

1. Every time I overwrite the default pgc and compile a map it never shows. Even if I am using a modified bitmaps.map.

2. Where is the input field for the loading screen?

Please help!

Expanding a default map makes it seem like the background pic is a hard-coded reference, meaning it's not really directly referenced by a tag.

For reference, it's
ui\shell\bitmaps\postgame_carnage_report
and
ui\shell\bitmaps\background

The PGCR can be easily re-referenced from the hud globals. Works fine for me changing it and recompiling, not sure what the issue is for your end.

The background image, on the other hand, try just renaming the default, and saving your custom one to the previously default location, forcing the engine to recognize the new one. The same sort of thing must be done for other hard-coded literal calls, like the "team_background" bitmap (parallelogram behind the gametype icon in default MP HUD).

Hope this helps! Good luck

Well I got the PGCR working. (Simply by changing the location of the referenced one in guerilla)

As for the loading screen, nothing works. I've tried overwriting the bitmaps.map with the augmented halomaps one.

I even uninstalled Halo ce and the hek including all registry key values.

And still no luck.

However simply out of frustration I did at one point delete the bitmaps.map entirely from the maps directory before compiling my map. That method worked but removing the bitmaps.map causing icky glitches. e.t.c

Thanks Nex for your help but really need to get that loading screen working.

Any changes you make to your bitmaps.map wouldnt show for anyone else unless they had the same bitmaps cache that you do.

Did you try finding the original loading screen .bitmap tag in your tags folder, renaming it, compiling the new image, and saving it as the original?
