Some people seem to have the shader transparent plasma working for them, like in this pic

where there actually is a somewhat electric look. This, however, isn't true for me. What I have is something similar to this

Which is not like an actual electric look, but more of a "leopard" look, with the shader creating marks rather than lightings. What I wonder is just whether or not is there a way to fix it, since this bother me as hell, and I have to use strange (and memory-costly) workarounds for the proper look to show up.

you get that on all maps? because i can tell that the map from the second pic is custom, and you can modify the look of the shader.

I believe more modern GPUs have a problem with it.

it was broken on port. Waffles can go indepth and complain about it if I refer him here, which I probably will

I get that on all maps, even the stock campaign. The second pic uses the stock shader transparent plasma; only changes were made to the offset amount.

As I said, I need solution. Thanks for summoning Waffles, though.

The game was ported ages ago and the QVL is small, if your using new hardware your going to have some issues. Pretty sure H1a has the same screwed up shield shaders now that i think about it.

Are there some settings\files\stuff I could toy with to fix that...?
OR
Is there a new plasma shield noise bitmap that behaves alike the working shader...?

Thanks everyone for replying, though.

Its the same reason that the B40 glass shaders are broken for some people and fine for others.
