Hi guys I decided to release Thorn beast model because I just don't have the time to work on the animation, rigging and texturing, however the model is finished.

I have exported it as OBJ format so that it works on any 3ds max versions. But keep in mind if your desperate to work on it you must provide credits. Thank you.

I am a very negative person. I hate people.

Grats on the release, even if it's unfinished. Maybe someone can finish this thing up.

Edit: Here OP, use a better image host next time. Photobucket is irrelevant garbage.

From the pics the beast appears to be following a diet of lean meats and fish, and plenty of green vegies! Nice!

Those bone spikes on its back are to protect it against aerial predators, right? It looks like a dinosaur, but without the bone plates.

I don't think it'd necessarily be aerial predators, just predators in general.

stop bullying op guuys

i think its cute

And 10/10 sparky, I'd make fun of you and call you autistic but I'm kind of impressed. You should finish it for OP or something, you seem knowledgeable enough to do a great job.

It looks like it is made to pounce on its prey -- all at once, rather than chasing it down first. Its streamlined body and two-toed feet look more suited to fleeing quickly in one direction than chasing dodging prey. I expect that they hunt in packs, surrounding their prey and swarming it from different directions in order to confuse it and freeze it in place. Then they pounce on it and tear it to shreds.

The gait of the beast would be turning in position and moving straight forward; the idle animation for the beast would be shaking its head like a dog shaking its coat -- as a social thing -- and raising and lowering its head like a bird (think parrot), and also crouching on its hind legs. It has no tail, so its balance is awkward for anything more than tilting and moving its head a little. The attacking stance of the beast would be crouching followed by pouncing; it would attack a target at mid-range because it would want to gain speed charging towards it before pouncing on it with its claws. It's kind of like a raptor, but without the visual range or the agility; this beast could be easily killed from the sides. It runs using both feet alternating, but does not reach maximum speed as quickly as a quadruped (such as a deer).

It might also hop in place, but not very high off the ground.

If it is prehistoric and there are other beasts like T-Rex's, then it is probably the equivalent of a badger when it comes to relative sizes in the animal kingdom -- think of it like a dog or badger: there are larger beasts that will try to bear down on you with their teeth and talons, but there are smaller creatures and other herbivorous creatures of your size or slightly larger that you can eat. It's like a tiger among mice and deer, and there are few other types of creatures of its size that would eat it.

I would say there are maybe three or four different types of creatures it eats: primarily one type of small creature dug up from the ground, two types of creatures its own size, and one type of creature about two to three times its size.

It is really ugly. I would expect it to only be found in very moderate / temperate climates. It has no fur or means to remain underwater, and it's slightly more sensitive to cold than a lizard. It's probably only in moderate or warm climates, but not very warm or tropical; it has no way of navigating dense foliage, but travels in herds.

It can't pounce all at once; it has to gain speed first so it has momentum.

(OK, I'm done now.)

Perhaps this was the pre-cursor to the moa species seen in reach?

The thorn beast was planned to appear on Installation 04, while the moa was native to Reach.
