Been thinking about getting into map making again. But I'd want to make these maps play on a faster pace and to acquire it I thought about instant weapon switch. Quake 1 and Quake 3 CPMA have this feature. Random video example: http://youtu.be/s-ZLttkv7D8?t=23s What exactly would I have to modify to make that possible? Remove some animations?

im gonna guess, make it an animation that has a total of like 1 or 2 frames, but I haven't really made any animations(for video games)

Also make sure you remove the ready time in the weapon tag, so it doesn't just sit there unable to be used until the old animation time is finished.
