It stops at 1% or so..

It does install on m windows 7 just fine.

Not sure what the problem is...

I think you misunderstand. It appears he's trying to install vanilla H1 Evolved but can't due to a FUBAR disk.

Yeah there's that. Then there's that machine that cleans out any scratches too.

It's impossible to remove scratches. A CD is a piece of plastic inscribed with data via near-microscopic laser incisions on the bottom side. Any other indentation disrupts this storage and degrades whatever is on the disc; oftentimes to worthlessness. The best you can do is attempt to fill in any such scratches (with, say, a banana or toothpaste) and hope the system taking the disc will be able to connect the dots through corrupted sectors.

I remember the days playing on the old consoles thinking if I just turned it on a certain way or blew in the cartridge from a certain direction things would work out. Good times..

Well I found out it is not the disk' problem... It successfully installed on my windows 7 computer again.. I will copy thoes installed files over to my current pc and hope it works...

I guess the real question is why Is it not installing on my windows 8.1 (where I had originally installed it a while back)

Wasn't there a toothpaste trick which could potentially fix damaged CDs? I remember doing it sometimes back when I played the original Xbox.

That or peanut butter you spread along the scratches. Then don't forget the most important step. You need to place the disc in the toilet and flush once (or twice if your disc is really dirty). The hardest step is reaching your hand into the toilet bowl to recover the disc. Finally you dry your disc with tree bark (or toilet paper if you ran out of tree bark). Remember to rub dry in a circular motion as to not damage the disc. Then it is good as new.

With Windows 8.1 a hell of a lot of games and applications have compatibility issues, I know that I had a bit of trouble installing Halo Combat Evolved on my 8.1 laptop. What fixed the issues I had was running the install in compatibility for Windows XP SP3 and running it as the Admin.

I don't see a point as running as admin, I never see any changes, plus... I am admin of my machine by default

Never fixed this but I'm the only user on my win8 machine but it keeps telling me I'm not an administrator even though I set my self up as one.
