Heya, I just thought I'd make a quick thread regarding this, as I couldn't see anything about it posted anywhere else and thought it may be of use to those who have had the same graphics problems with SPv3 A50 as I have. These pertain specifically to the .yelo map.

Note I do not have any technical experience, or knowledge of how Opensauce modifies the Blam engine renderer, these are merely solutions gained through trial and error (and no small amount of frustration ).

Models in game do not show bump or specular highlighting.
This seems to apply to anything that is not BSP - weapons, bipeds, decorative meshes. In this scenario, they receive nothing but Halo's default vertex lighting.
The solution:
This seems to happen under Windows 7 when Halo CE is installed to the Program Files directory. My best guess is that Opensauce needs to write something to the Halo directory at runtime or during installation, but cannot because of the way admin privileges are granted on Windows 7.
Installing Halo CE to other directories, particularly those that do not require administrator authorisation, will solve this problem.

Specular highlights on some decorative meshes are messed up, no detail-textures on meshes, missing decals on BSP geometry.
Game looks otherwise fine and is honestly difficult to spot these problems unless you really know what you're looking for. I initially noticed some highlights on the rocks looked bugged and not like how they look in many screenshots and videos.
The solution:
It turns out that the latest version of Opensauce, 3.1, breaks some visuals in A50. If you are having this problem, uninstall 3.1, download version 3.0.3 from https://code.google.com/p/open-sauce/downloads/list and reinstall. Downgrading will probably cost you a few FPS as it does not seem to be as well-optimised, but the map looks way more visually consistent and detailed as a result.

I hope that's been of help to a few of you out there. I would post screenshots, but I really don't fancy breaking the game again Let me know if there's anything incorrect or unclear about my solutions! Cheers!

*shrug* Take or leave it. I was just happy to get Opensauce/A50 working correctly and thought I'd share for anybody else who might have encountered the same problems I have. If you haven't had these errors, then awesome. Your install was clearly much less of a pain than mine ;)

Thanks for your work on this post, its really awesome to see that people care so much about our maps and take enough interest to do enough research and identify problems. Ignore those who don't appreciate your efforts. Its unlikely they've ever done anything worthwhile.
