I saw a guy in a server a while back shooting invisible rockets on a vanilla rockets-only Sidewinder server. Anyone know how to do this trick? He did a melee attack everytime he fired which I presume is how he managed to get the rockets invisible but I was unable to replicate it

Edit:: I saw two people do it on the server, in fact

Possibly achieved with external bind scripts? Some sort of weird key combo.

probably yeah, but i'd like to know what happened exactly. Does he fire a rocket at the same frame as he melee attacks, or before/after, and is it frame specific or something? Other people were complaining about the invisible rockets so it is definitely a glitch in the came code somehow...

Something to note about the rocket projectile is that the projectile is client side only, so somehow these guys are tricking the server into thinking that they've fired rockets while tricking the clients that they haven't

Probably gonna make a lot of pros not wanting secrets revealed mad at me for this but...
Phantom shooting, basically zoom in and press the melee key, then shoot.
I don't think the server checks whether players are zoomed or not, so it doesn't stop them from meleeing.

If they were pros, they wouldn't be exploiting glitches to fire projectiles that no one can track.

I just don't equate what's essentially cheating with professionalism. If somebody's hosting a server and they use server commands to turn the tide of a match, it doesn't mean they're better than everyone else playing, it just means they figured out the right exploits.

He's clumsily grouping them all under cheating.
