Run the program as an administrator? Ensure that Halo 2 isn't being blocked on your firewall or something. Just download the update manually? The highest it goes up to is 1.0.1 anyways I believe.

Interesting. I had never encountered such a problem and never imagined it could arise. Time to ask term paper website.
