Hello, I was making my first map and a few weird things were happening. One was that when I would go to look at some files i made with sapien, tool, and guerilla, the files wouldn't show up in the windows explorer. However the files did show up when I would open in guerilla. My next error is when I try to play my map ingame, the game crashes at the loading screen and comes up with "Gathering Exception Data". That box sits open for a 5-10 seconds and the I get the error about halo not working or responding. I have been following the tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu4EWfBuos0

The tutorial is also downloadable at
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2299

I don't have the slightest idea where I went wrong which is why I made an account and am asking. If anyone would know how to help me or post a tutorial that works 100% I would really appreciate it. If you want you could watch the tutorial that I posted above to see where I or the creator of the tutorial might have made a mistake but I wouldn't considering that it is an hour long total but if you have the time than go ahead. I don't think this would have much to do with my errors but I am using Autodesk 3ds Max 2014. I also don't appear to get any errors in tool. Thanks in advance

Have you tried running everything as administrator?

What would you have your arbiter do?

I know exactly whats causing this problem. Some pc's need administrator permission to move files into the program files map even if your using a user with administrator rights. Because of this hek programs can't save the files directly into the tags or map folder.

These files are saved in the following folder C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program files\Microsoft games\halo custom edition. Of course, you wil need to turn on the option to show hidden files and folders to acces those folders. Here you wil find the maps and tags you couldnt see with windows explorer. You can move them manualy from that folder to your real halo ce folder.

To permanently fix the problem you wil need to stop 'the administrator permission' pop ups. To do this click start, type msconfig into search bar, right click msconfig.exe at top of screen and select run as administrator.
At System Configuration screen, select Tools, scroll down the list until you see Disable UAC, click on launch and reboot your computer.
Of course, by doing this your computer will become more vulnerable.

I just checked the UAC settings and it seems that it is already off. I will try to complete my map with the built in Administrator account that I have unlocked. I will also search the location you posted above. Could this also have to do with the Gathering Execption Data because I wasn't running cmd as Admin when I was using tool and I think that Gathering Exception Data an error in this case where it cannot find certain map components. I will post back if I get another error.

It could be, but i am not sure. But there is also the possibility that the map type is set to solo instead of multiplayer. If this is the case halo ce wil crash with the gathering exception error. Make sure the map type is set to multiplayer in sapien in the properties palatte.

It seems your also probably using windows 8. Wich means you got to do something else to turn off the annoying adminstator pop up wich prevents guerilla, tool and sapien from saving files in the regular halo ce directory.

You can disable it in windows 8 completely by making the following change in regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Change the value for EnableLUA to 0.
UAC Enabled = 1
UAC Disabled =0

Then reboot and the annoying pop-up wil go away. But you cant use windows 8 Metro Store apps until you enable it again.

So I am currently working on my map on the built in Administrator account and I did some playing around in the C: drive program files and I'm not getting any pop ups which seems like a good thing. If I still cannot see the files, then I will try the registry edit. For those who want to unlock the built in Administrator, run cmd as Administrator, type
"net user Administrator /active yes" without quotes

and to take off the password it has built into it type
"net user Administrator *" without quotes

once you press enter 2 times the password will be blank and you can login to the administrator.

Anyway, if I encounter more errors I will make another post.
P.S. Yes, I am using Windows 8.1.

EDIT:
I made the map in the administrator account and it works completely ( based on 2-3 minutes of ingame testing ) I'll post a link here for you to try out, I named it teaser because I followed the tutorial to the point to make sure I got it working. This is my very first map so its not amazing but I wouldn't mind playing on it.

Thank you so much for helping me get this working :D
