Does anyone know how and could tell me how to make realistic/CGI movie quality outdoors/indoors lighting in 3ds max? Also, how to have a good lighting render set up for rendering models for show or whatever.
Really? No one? ... T^T Edited by P3 on Apr 23, 2014 at 09:48 PM

In first, you need to set up your model (environnement, lights etc...). After you had to do your own settings in the rendering setup (mental ray etc...) I'm not very good with that, try asking master noob or dalek, they cam probably help you.

The 3ds max documentation and even you tube is the place to look up on that, for starters this shows how to do indoor lighting with shadows etc. You don't even need Vray or anything to follow this, it's just the stock tools in 3ds max. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0-5W-uQDKI That's far easier than trying to type up a massive list of instructions and the amount of image links it would take to cover what you can/should do. If you are adding animations in the scene and will be changing camera angles then obviously you will have to adjust your lighting to suit how you want things to look, if it's just an image then ignore this sentence. An outdoor lighting tutorial example using Vray. http://cgi.tutsplus.com/tutorials/create-a-photorealistic-car-render-using-3ds-max-and-vray--cg-1751There are many other forums that can help, but more than likely you will get links to videos.

dodged ya dennis. Seeing you didn't quote as to who you are referencing and that i was the last to comment, should i take your comment as directed towards me? If so tell me where you get "All this homophobic bs" from? And as for fag, maybe i should just simply laugh at you for that, i'm a very happily married man with 3 children, obviously you wouldn't know that about me as i have seen no reason to mention anything of that before. So if that is how you interpreted the sentence i typed then you should remember one of the most important things about online forums, that is to not judge a persons character, personality or beliefs based on a simple sentence especially a sentence that stated nothing containing any words to which you seem to have come up with. If i wanted to express my views on such a thing then i can think of better places/times to do that.

The missing quote was what threw me, i honestly didn't understand why the comment was made, or if it was posted in the correct thread. So summing up the odds that it was in the correct thread it looked like it was towards myself so i responded. But hey that's not to be taken personal because i would have responded the same way to anyone, also understand there was no anger in what i said neither i figured i was being quite polite.
Anyway no need for feeling akward the confusion is over, life goes on :)
