I did stuff the internet told me to do. It never worked. I figured I'd just compile it as ogg anyways. It worked, but when I tested it in-game, it would cut out constantly, and the only way I could even hear it clearly was to try and fire the assault rifle semi-automatically.
I need that xbox adcm format.
Please help. :^)

I'm an OpenSauce user, so I'm strictly trying to only utilize OpenSauce HEK tools. I am trying to compile two different gunfire sounds, both with a few permutations. They are PCM signed, 16-bit, mono, and have a quality of 22.050 (K)Hz, I believe. From the tutorials that I have read, when you are attempting to create sounds for effects, you should use the "xbox adpcm" compilation method, however, for some reason, trying to compile the sounds in tool with the xbox function doesn't seem to work. So, I've resulted to compiling the ogg function with a quality flag in OS tool of 22.050, which works, and I can get the sounds in OS Guerilla working properly. I then change the usage type to "weapon_fire," set up the max and min distance values, and then re-compile. I then replace the default assault rifle firing sound with this new sound, and load up a new version of the tutorial map so I can test it. However, upon doing so, when I fire the weapon, the sound doesn't play at all, or is SEVERELY clipped and filled with static, and all that can be heard is the other "eject" sound that is tailored with the stock assault rifle's firing effect.
Does anyone know what my problem or issue is? ANY kind of insight would be extremely appreciated.

I used the XBADPCM codec, but it didn't work the first time round I tried to install it and had to try it twice; might have just used a duff installer first attempt though. I'm assuming you have that installed already? It's what I used to get the xbox adpcm compile to work in tool. Edited by Diaboy on Apr 1, 2014 at 07:12 PM

Edited by Diaboy on Apr 1, 2014 at 07:12 PM Actually, yes, I did download the XBADPCM file in .rar form off of that one xbox tools website. I installed that script file one time, but nothing really happened. Since the readme.txt says that it has only worked in Win 200 & XP, I kind of just assumed it wasn't compatible with Win 7 x64, the OS version I'm currently running. I could try and give it another go to see if it will work correctly on a second try, but I'm not at home right now, so it will have to wait. Thanks for the reply, though.

No worries! I remember getting the sounds to work was a bit of a pain, but didn't have any problems after the second attempt at installing the codec. I do seem to remember there being one for 64 bit, which might have been where I went wrong. I would offer to check my own but my computer died a couple of months ago. EDIT Had a hunt, sadly I think all the files are on the old hard drive, and I'm not in a position to access the files right now -However, I would suggest having a look and see if there is any disparity between the x64 and x86 codec. Hope that's some help. Edited by Diaboy on Apr 2, 2014 at 05:28 PM
