Hey, I'm trying to test out the maps I'm currently making with some beta testers. I have a Virtual Private Server and a dedi up and going on there for this purpose. When I run a stock map, say, Timberland, everything is fine. But when I put the newest build of my new map in there, and try to join, or even am in a map and switch it to mine, it gives me an "unable to join game!" message.
This happens to everyone who has tried to join, and yes, the .map file on the server is consistent with the ones I have distributed to the testers and the one I have on my client PC as well. I will attempt next to try a commonly used custom map, and will report back. The fact that I can join stock maps but not my own is odd - unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious that I haven't seen. The map works fine on a LAN game, and I've had no compilation issues - it's only about 78MB currently as well. Totally flummoxed here.
Any ideas?

when you recompiled your map did you run tool as admin? if you didn't the new build of your map's file might have been placed in the compatibility files tab inside the maps folder and so you may have actually copied the old build of your map's file instead of the new one. Interesting. I'll redo it as admin and report back.
I also had an issue on the same lines of what you're describing: The test map I uploaded, I have all the new tagset sitting in a line on the ground for testing, and one of my testers downloaded it and doesn't even see the weapons there - running in LAN mode still - but when I downloaded it on my laptop and ran a LAN game on there, they showed up fine. No clue what's going on, so I'll recompile as Admin and see what happens

When you placed your starting positions, did you specify the "all games" flag? You have to specify which gametypes the starting positions will be used for.
Same thing for starting positions.
Also, if you are trying to play a specific gametype, make sure you placed the flags required (ie. the flags for CTF, the hill for KOTH, etc).
One last thing to try, if you are using HAC, open console and type "hac_flush_cache" if you have been recompiling new builds without changing the name of the .scenario.
EDIT: If you solve the issue, please post the solution you used so that other people with the same issue can google search. I had the same problem awhile ago and I'm pretty sure one of the things I just suggested fixed it, but I had to dig pretty deep. Edited by stunt_man on Jan 14, 2014 at 11:56 AM
