Hi all! So, I have a question again. What is open sauce? CMT seems to use it, and it's incredible how it enhances the gameplay and the graphics. But how do you use it? I have downloaded it, and it just makes my game lag a lot :/ There were some tools installed too, OS guerilla, OS sapien etc. But they don't seem to have something new. So, yeah what is basically open sauce and how do I use it?

Thanks for the link :D and, yeah my pc is not that old, I just have one of the laimest graphics cards ever... It has like 450 mb of memory so I can't play on high-resolutions with open sauce :/

Open Sauce "Opens up" Halo CE a little more, its mainly for hardcore modders but you can use some of its post processing features to enhance the visuals (if you have an epic GFX card, i have a gtx 460.)

Halo runs very well with the graphics card my old computer had. It once used the integrated Intel graphics (P4) but that eventually burned out (my PC would shut off, and I smelled something burning, PSU probably) so I eventually replaced it with this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102681

With my integrated graphics, I'd just about barely get 30 FPS at max settings, except resolution was 800 x 600 (640 x 400 on more intense maps.) with the ATI x3000 that my neighbor gave me, I got 30 FPS on all max settings, 1280 x 1024, on Foundry with OS installed :0

All other maps ran beautifully, with stock maps running at 60 FPS. I had to disable motion blur, I think OS had an issue with ATI cards and that feature, but all else worked fine. Then I bought my current computer, and now I don't even need to pay attention to settings anymore, even for modern games.

I would struggle to get even 30 fps on CMT SPV3 on my old GT 430... encounters would drop my framerate to 10 fps.
my old gpu ran modern games fine though :/

If you are lagging from OS, consider adding -no_os_gfx to the target line of your Halo: Custom Edition shortcut (where you put -console and -devmode). This will disable OS' graphical features.

That should have a significant effect.

Yeah, well, if I disable OS graphical features, then why have OS installed at all?

You can still play .yelo maps
You can use the F7 menu to change fov, weapon views, hud, etc.
You can still use OS-only functions (if you mod, that is)
You can still see servers from v1.00 of HCE, I think.

For a 650 TI, those are pretty bad frame rates. That card should easily be able to get twice that. What are your other specs?

Is it just me or this open sauce thread evolved to a "pc specs" one...

Can you please back that up? Also, you don't seem to understand even the smallest thing about how graphics cards are grouped, and how each are different. Of course an Nvidia GTX 650 is going to be more powerful that the Radeon x1000 I mentioned in a previous post, and the reverse is true for if you switch card types. Please educate yourself before spouting nonsense.

Can you prove it? Just because your laptop can run Halo at 60 FPS, doesn't necessarily mean it has the best graphics card ever. I easily get 600+ FPS in halo, does that make my card the best one? No. I cap it at 60 anyway because my monitors refresh rate is 60Hz, so anything higher than 60 FPS is redundant.
