hi everyone,

Soo i have this map that was originally based off a heightmap, but I wanted to make it look better. I'm just not 100% sure how. Here's what I currently have:

old screenshot, uvs are fixed, a mistake since i want to edit geometry again :(

A friend told me that I needed to increase the polies in the cliffs (well, thats obvious). Im just not sure how. I was told to just use cut and extrude everywhere, but so far I think it looks worse:

Am I cutting in the wrong fashion or something? Or I haven't cut enough yet to see good results? Should i just leave the cliffs as it is but just round off all those rough edges? Mystic was sort of like that so I was going to try it but i dont feel like putting a lot of effort just to find out its still looks ugly.
Mystic:

I also searched google for cliff images, they seem similar to my original except it doesn't poke inwards, but i'd really like to keep that style though :(

Anyone know a better name for this map rather than cerazine? A friend made it up for me but a google search shows its some sort of drug @_@

Sorry for no img tags, halomaps is bugged or something, if i use them then half my post gets cut off

Not a terrible start for a base rough/outline.

Basically you want to use the "cut" tool as much as possible. With this, you can go back and make more vertices, essentially allowing to have more points in your geometry where you can mess with it and make it look better. If you'd like, you can watch one of my old tutorials on terrain modeling, which covers also basic cliffs and ground geometry.
