Does anyone know what kind of architectural style the precursors used? Did they use metals? Was it similar to forerunner architecture?

From what I can tell, Precursor architecture was composed of organic, adaptable material, similar to the flood biomass, but more refined and more structural, like a cross between forerunner architecture and flood architecture (If you could call it that). The biomass is intelligent, adjusting itself to best suit its environment (and making it vulnerable to the halo array)

anymore than that, you will have to make up.

if it helps here is a sketch and composite image of a Precursor combat suit

I know nanotech isn't exactly organic, but is it similar to that? Almost able to modify itself, but not as messy as the flood?

pretty much, I guess kinda like the Reapers in Mass effect

remember, Precursor Structures were organic enough, and sentient, as it was obliterated when the halo array fired

Just to let you know that the "sketch" is not official sketch; it's fan-made. Also, that's a teaser image of the Promethean Knight (http://halopedia.org/Promethean_Knight) and not a Precursor combat suit.

"Precursor artifacts... were durable enough to be cycled inside planets' crusts by plate tectonics. Precursor artifacts were often encountered by Miners, who obtained and recorded them but rarely held any particular interest in them.

Among the most impressive of the Precursors' structures were the enormous orbital arches and unbending filaments, which were used to connect entire worlds and solar systems. Precursor technology was amazingly durable, and was almost totally impervious to all forms of conventional damage. However, the Halo Array's energy pulse has been shown to be able to utterly destroy Precursor structures. Precursor construction material was gray-silver, and would shatter along crystalline planes if broken.

Precursor technology is believed to have been based on what Forerunners called 'neural physics': The concept that inanimate matter and thought are inextricably linked. It is theorized that the Halo Array, being neurological weapons, are one of the only ways to destroy or otherwise damage Precursor artifacts. This could also explain the lack of any Precursor ruins in modern society (circa 2553 CE) as most, if not all, would have been destroyed when the Halo Array fired and sterilized the galaxy at the end of the Forerunner-Flood war."
