because custom maps NEVER beats classic maps..

But that doesn't mean that everything should be all classic all the time. That defeats the entire point of Custom Edition.

Yes, it does. And Halo CE is "IN FACT" more laggy than Halo PC and to install Halo CE you must first have Halo standard in which case it is in fact a durpaderp idea to play regular maps on halo CE.

you know what is weird?

halomaps gets new custom maps all the time and i see that people do download them, but i never see them on the server lists. What is the point of downloading a map and not playing it?!?

Most people do not have the access to a dedicated server nor do they have a second machine to create one. Also, Hosting a server yourself leads to one thing (people getting pissed at the one guy who has 0 ping going around with the OP weapons while everyone else is at 400ms ping.
Most people simply download the maps just to try them out too.

You dont need 1 pc to host a dedi and a 2nd to play on it. You can do it all from 1 pc. u just got to change your ports on halo ce.

Won't that cause the dedi to lag though?

so is that the reason why no one hosts servers anymore? cuz it lags a lot? I never noticed that much lag, i usually got around 100 or 200

servers like DG clans servers are ok cuz they have good fast net. and the servers are very powerful. But take just a random server it will have slow net and very underpowered.

I think that what we need to do to get people to play custom maps is go into those servers running stock maps (Such as the 12+ servers running Blood Gulch that are ALWAYS full) and tell people about this site and custom maps/servers. It might be a good idea to contact some of the servers' admins to see if they might put something like it in the server banner/autotalk, so we don't have to do it manually.

Other than that, I think that a good way to get people into servers running custom maps would be to have them cycle some stock maps (Maybe even blood gulch, as much as I hate that map) and some of the customs that everyone already has (Coldsnap, hugeass, extinction, snow grove... ambush and immure too, I guess) and mix in some other maps too, so people will be encouraged to download them, thereby increasing their play.

People get lured in by blood gulch or whatever, and when they're kicked due to not having the new map they download the new one or figure out how to get new ones if they don't know how.

Some map suggestions:
Blood_Creek_rc1 and rc2
Downflow
Chronopolis
New Mombassa Classic
Yoyorast_v2
Church
cmt_fragment v3
Dark (Would make a great zombies map)
Fission_Point
Launch Bay
Launch Bay X (Pretty different from Launch Bay)
Portent
Sciophobia

256mb ram i think a 1.0 - 1.3 ghz cpu. it says u need a 32mb video card (dont think you do) internet speed download 5mb upload (for alest 16 players) 1mb.

I think thats it.

And i know a few server host\admins. They mostly use sapp. Ill talk to them and see if they will help us out.

Geez, that's it? I bet for smooth gameplay it's more than that, but still, that's pretty minimal. It seems like somebody could take an old-ish computer and hook it up easily.

No for a smooth server thats all you need. But to be safe the cpu sould be 2.0ghz. i got told dedis use alot of cpu power and very little ram.

because half the people dont know how to get them.

Perhaps there should be a program that automatically downloads, extracts, and installs maps, and thats the only way to obtain them from the halomaps server. so theres less confusion.

But i dont see that happening.

So, bring CE up to the standards of every other shooter since Half-Life?
