Hey,

I was just wondering if you still have any plans on doing something with/for Minecraft, Dennis.
Personally I'd love to see a decent vanilla server hosted with a simple spawn-protection system, and fair moderators. And an archive on "adventure maps" would be simply lovely :)

I agree I hate having to search the forum for good mods, or maps, or servers. Having this on halomaps would be an excelent idea. The Halo CE community could even donate some money to make a dedicated server where we could all try to recreate our favorite maps in minecraft lol.

Minecraft's got tons of graphics mods. Just have to find them ;)

There's even a mod that allows dynamic shadows with DX11.

You have to have a pretty good computer to run it on greater than 3 fps though.

Well, you'd get no better if Notch himself made graphics updates. Minecraft's already pretty powerful, even without amazing graphics. The physics and mining systems are very powerful.

This. No fancy add-ons, just a protected spawn point.

You should all try the GLSL shaders mod, it's amazing...

Also, 150FPS FTW

Not a big fan of Minecraft, but I'm always glad to see this site thrive and continue to grow.

You'll excuse my being a pessimist but just do a quick search of 'minecraft map'. There are at least 20 different websites grappling for control of every single mod, world, and community. I mean, minecraftdl.com, minecraftmaps.com...etc.
I did before I decided to create a new website for it and what I found was less than desirable from the stand point of showing off the maps or being able to download them. Many hosted the maps on Mediafire instead of on their own servers and 1 out of every 4 maps I tried to download were missing, Others had small or only a few or just one picture of the map/project, no one had a version control system and the overall experience was not what I expected to see.

The site in development will have a user login that allows people to manage their own "projects", upload 40-50 pictures of each project, upload their map(s) if they want to with an automatic version control so they can upload several versions of the same one as the map progresses, allow them to upload and/or replace and add images to existing projects to show the progress of the map and have both small, medium and high-rez images. There will be a rating system and most likely a comment system where if the email address of the user account becomes invalid then all comments for that user will be removed. I want to take it upa notch from what is out there currently.

Could you do the same with Halo CE maps & users? :o

No. The file size of the uploads for Halo CE precludes limiting it to HTTP only which is required for automatic version control. I am still on the fence about a comment system and it may not be available when the actual site goes live but be added later. I am not sure.
