Okay, so it started here

So it started on the old sandtrap v2 thread. I thought it looked like a shader_transparent_glass with a bump map on it. Then i found out it was an actor_variant that had active camouflage ticked on, and that's why it didn't sync over MP. So that's when i remembered seeing a vehicle with active camouflage awhile back. I figured out that the way they did it was with a glitch in where you copy the vehicle meta and past it over an item_collections meta in HMT but for some reason HMT doesn't work on my computer anymore. SO xlzqwerty suggested i use Eschaton instead, but i don't know how to use eschaton so i can't figure out how to do this.


And that's why i'm making this last thread. All of the others led up to this, but they all seemed to have gotten abandoned. So i need to know, Who here knows how to use eschaton and can tell me how to do this? Any help is GREATLY appreciated and thank you all for your help so far and for any help you may be able to offer me in the future.

Remember to backup your map file before doing the following:OK,you can change references or replace things in the tags on the right side.Try replacing the bipd section with a vehicle.

This is only a guess based on what I remember from modding Halo PC(it's mostly about replacing things).

I recommend that you use v0.8.1

Okay i got version 8.1. Now when i open the map, it opens in the read write only section and i can't edit anything. Does anyone know how i'm supposed to open in in the Map window itself?


What does the expand map function do?

It allows you to add,remove and extract stuff from expanded maps.The tag info and metadata is on the right side when you click on a tag.

This is the problem i'm having, i don't see anywhere that there is metadata to copy.

Finally something i'm good at!

Okay, open up the ITMC carrot


Select the weapon you want to swap and go to the reference swapper


Select the only reference in there, which will be the Weap tag


Go down to the Tag Class down the bottom and change the weap to Vehi, then select the vehicle you want from the other list.


Press this button, this is the hardest step.


Bam. Open your map and check out where your weapon was.



Enjoy!

This only works with Vehicles, Bipeds, weapons, scenery and maybe some other things.
Trying to swap them with AI will crash the game.

Wow, so they changed dependency swapper to reference swapper. @grunt eater, yep this is the way I've done it in the past. Sorry I couldn't help any further.

Check that third link at the top ^ Scroll down 'till you see a banshee with active camo, read what poster said. Wasn't my theory, and they did it and it worked :/


Not sure what to do, maybe you HAVE to use HMT...Idk, now i'm thinking about going pack to that thread again...

EDIT: OOh i think i know what i did wrong!
okay, so this is a little trickier, and i'm too lazy to post pics this time.
Go to SCNR
reference swapper
find the ITMC tag you want to change
Replace THAT with the Vehicle.

No, i wasn't rebuilding the map. And when i tried the second way you told me it still exceptions :/


Just tried rebuilding the map and it opened, got me all excited, then i realized that when i rebuilt it the mod was wiped away.

It should have worked. And yeah i was just checking, rebuilding can break maps in the newest version.

Okay, i figured out what i was doing wrong, i was pasting it over a weapon that something was holding.




Oh...My...Gosh...I got ghost choppers. I don't know what is going on, i don't know why they're driving around, i can't enter them, and they run me over when i shoot at them. It's cool, and probably doesn't sync over MP, but it's weird. Lol
