So last month, I went to see my brother graduate from the USMC at MCRD in San Diego. It was a great time and there is a lot of motivation and discipline in that place. When we came back, I thought it would be fun to model the base and see how it turns out. Maybe use it as a MP or SP map, not sure. Here's some WIP pics, and tell me what you guys think.

Me like. It's up to you to finish and enhance this...

That would make a very interesting map + cool name

Thanks. This is one of the very few projects I've had that I actually enjoy doing, and I plan on finishing this too. the base is pretty big as well, and open. Now that I think about it, the parade deck would make a decent race track :)

Maybe I'll use OS on this.

Looks nice so far! Try to get the entire map blocked out before you add to much detail though.

Thanks, I have a question though, for a lot of the vegetation, (bushes and trees), should I just model those in, since I don't think this website has scenery tags of palm trees or any type of California plants? :P

No, make them scenery files. Also, the map Lost Cove has palm tree's.

Ohoho! me like less.
Try to make a bitmap like the bloodgulch ground for the walls, with different detail maps, i know that needs unwrapping, but it would look a lot better. Eg. Rain used it, or pollution
Just givin a piece of advice tho

Check out the map no remorse. It should have a good starting point for textures and then even shaders.

EDIT: Just trying out some new render settings. It's a bit like the one that Installation 4 dude uses.

Could anyone tell me why my renders look so burry?

Haven't updated in a while, due to laziness. I will not quit on this project though, so here is a small update.

Started up on making the barracks. I'm probably going to put little detail in the interior, due to there not being much, and the player probably won't go in there.

Thanks. I'm almost done with the barracks, I just need to finish the rest of the base, and add a couple more buildings, and I'll be close to done.

it would be a great idea to give a "battle field" feeling to the map, you know, destroyed walls, explosions, fire, etc. it would give a more realistic environment of destruction to the player, but that's your choice

It does look like it has potential altho I believe it would be fun if it was a bit bigger. once that base is done, you'll need more
