How about a hangar bay with rooms that unlock every five waves, giving you acess to weapons?

well a hangar bay with doors that you unlock for points allowing you acess to better firing positions.

What about Firefight on-board a ship? Kinda like the Pillar of Autumn. You start in a cryobay, fight a few waves, gather enough points to unlock the door and advance to the next area. Repeat until you get to a hangar or something, then collect points until you can unlock the Pelican to escape.

Not necessarily straight out of Pillar of Autumn. Just similar, ya know? Some kinda of close-quarters ship-based thing. Something with lotsa hallways. o.O

A good firefight map could possibly be were you have to defend a certain location, while a group of crewmen or something are working on a tactical bomb. Defend them, if they die you lose, and a variety of possible things you can do like call in reinforcements, drop carpet bombs, ETC.
