ok, I am a newbie when it comes to making maps. I made one and it worked just fine. So for this one I wanted to add some bases. So when I try to build the structure in tool I get open faces errors like crazy.... I go into 3Ds max and see what's going on and when I use the STL check, the bases are lit up red. I have open edges, multiple edges, and spikes. Now, I didn't make these bases I downloaded them from halomaps. they are the forerunner bases made by Nexus. I dunno what to do here..... Can someone offer some advice?

Thanks

ok I did that, and now all the STL check red marks are gone. But when I go into tool I still get the same "###ERROR couldn't update edge ...."

I made a new JMS from the updated map, re compressed with explicit alpha, and remade the shaders.

well first if your running on windows xp this would be the easiest to explain:
it should just be:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\(name here).wrl

if your on windows 7 and or vista then its time to pretty much go back change security settings then run everything as admin now open up Max and go over and open .wrl and it should look similar to the one above just the program files would have an x86 or something next to it.

i took a look at the max file in 3ds and welded the verts 0.1, then checked for errors with the border tool, and found these error still remain and need to be fixed, they are a combination of open edges and double faces.

yeah not my model but i fixed it anyway. only thing is i'm not making it a scenery item, so attach it to your bsp (it's best to have it this way). remember to remove the polys on the bottom of the base before you try to attach it.

also if you don't know how to attach a model to your bsp/ground...

Wow thanks everyone!! All this info helped out a lot. I think I realized what I did wrong now. I never did delete the faces on the bottom of the base. Maybe that's what's going on. And thanks ally for the fixed base! Really cool for you to do.

Again thank you everyone for your help!
