So I discovered the fun Halo a couple months ago and decided to get it at home. I got some maps like Mystic, but when I try to play a LAN game with my sister the game doesn't show up so she can't join. Does anyone know what's wrong? The 2302 and 2303 things are right if that helps...
Thanks in advance for any help!

FYI: you cannot play a lan game if both computers used the same CD key to install halo/halo ce

^Interestingly enough, you CAN do so (play with the same CD keys) within a dedicated server over the Internet.

Yes, I've tested this with a friend.

He's new, he didn't ask is it possible if he sets up his own dedicated server, he said Lan to play with his sister . . . simple solution = don't use the same key on both computers, reinstall is fast and simple.

It's not whether you can play a lan game on both computers or not as he did not specify that, it's really about the game not showing up in his sister's game server list. :O

Make sure you're not filtering out empty servers, either. Even if the host is in there, the server could appear empty (0/16 players)

Ok i got it on both computers but now I've been having this problem where i can't open Halo because it says theres a missing or corrupt file for all of the maps i downloaded. What do i do?! I can't even open Halo to just play the regular maps!

Have you got the following things in your maps folder?

loc.map
ui.map
sounds.map
bitmaps.map
flametrackgulch.rar
LOLWUT?! That's not a file that Halo needs to run - hell, that's not even a .map file!

I know it's not a map file, but when I installed halo CE, it was in my maps folder. I figured it needed to stay there.
Install the real program not a hack.

Programs

Halo Custom Edition Game - required

Halo Custom Edition V1.09 Patch update - required

It shouldn't be illegal to own a pirated game if you have the legal one too, is it?
In simple terms yes it is. As Lodex has said you can make a backup of the original, but you can't distribute, share or give it away nor can you download one that someone else has.

Why not just use version changer?

Or like UBE Chief (I think) make separate folders for separate versions?

What I'm saying is that I payed for Halo PC, used the product key to get Halo CE v1.09, but I have the illegal CE v1.00 too. Only to play with friends who don't have the legal one. I don't think that would be illegal since I payed for it anyway.
If you downloaded a hacked game then yes it is. The copyright does not allow for distribution or use of the game that has been modified no matter what you purchased.

Why not just use version changer?
Because it is a direct violation of the copyright and EULA.
