What are you looking for in it? I myself regret buying it. If your just looking for the H2 singleplayer, its there. Multiplayer..... Windows live ruined that. Custom maps.... they don't really exist. Halo 1 is alot nicer a game, with the amount of control you have over the game.

Kirby, you obviously don't know anything about H2V or it's community if you are making comments like "custom maps don't exist". Zow, the game is worth the measly $20 bucks you might pay for it. And with the proper Halo engine backround in modding, you can create some pretty awesome maps. Yes unfortunatly Live did ruin the multiplayer aspect, but then again, if you find the right servers and groups of map makers, you can have an awesome time.

For info on maps and stuff we, the H2MT community do, head over to www.monstrmoose.com

If you download a custom mainmenu map file, you can then download 4 fully customizable maps, slot1 slot2 slot3 slot4. Other than those, they aren't really custom, they are different BSPs. So.. where do I not know what im talking about? H1, you can go get a thosand pages of custom maps.. and bloodgulch mods.

Custom BSPs

Custom Weapons

Custom Effects

Custom Skys

Custom Vehicles (MMM)

Custom HUDs (MMM)

There are plenty of H2V custom maps. The problem is we need better tools; if and when Korn or someone else releases a proper version of H2Tool that can make render, collision and physics models then we shall have many more custom options.

Wow. The game seems... OK. Sadly, I don't think my computer can't handle it. For one thing, the texture looks stretched out. Second, Live ruined Multiplayer. And finally Vista is a sucky OS for playing video games. Which makes the game even worse(meaning suck framerate). Maybe if Live was removed, I would actually buy the game.

Any ways, I appreciate that you guys commented about your opinion.

The game works fine for some users on Win7, Vista is fine as long as its been patched.

Sadly G4WL is terrible and with every "update" its only gotten worse.

terrible game the campaign looks cartoony and its boring. their is only like 2 servers that have a good amount of players.(maybe cuz it cant be pirated).and you have to pay to play online. 5$ bucks a month. damm you xbox live\windows live.

you should upgrade your graphics card. i got a new nvidia galaxy gt 440 for 56$ on ebay and it runs halo 2 a 75fps (min) on 1680x1050.

The campaign is quite good especially on Legendary and G4WL has been free for years.

I'm burning through the campaign on Heroic (gonna go for Legendary next) on my Win7 laptop, but I have to agree. Vista was utter **** for Halo 2 - and not to mention that after a few years, all MS/Bungie managed to do was port the Xbox version to PC...and with no added content, revised controls (as in, turning sucks in vehicles unless you have a controller), or, for that matter, ANYthing new to the game.

If you want to buy it, go ahead, but don't expect anything new or great about H2V - after all, it's just a Xbox port :|

I recommend it. If you have a solid PC, the game looks and runs really well. The Campaign is fun and if you can get into a decent server online, the multiplayer is enjoyable as well.

Eh, its got a better controller support then the Xbox version (so does 360 though right, but no MP there).

Better graphics, nothing amazing but still miles better then the original on XBox or CE.

The editing kit is locked down but some of us have still made amazing stuff with it. Especially when we make use of the unlocked tools, for example; I just ported the Reach Magnum the other day.

It does have two new exclusive MP maps (District and Uplift) and all of the older XBox DLC except for the two maps Tombstone and Desolation, but those maps have been ported as custom maps.

The H2EK Includes one new weapon for H2V: the Silenced SMG (included before it ever made it into ODST).

Lotsa custom weapons and maps (only two Blood Gulch mods xD).

Free Multi-Player. FREE! On average, there is always someone to play against, with at least four rooms full. I have never come online to see no-one to play against.

So overall, yes; it is much better then on the XBox and it does have some new features.

Pro-tip: Get a better system and stop bashing games that take too much power for your AMD Sempron and GeForce 6700 ;)

Now if only MS and Bungie had a look at that...

Pfft, that'll NEVER happen >.>

Why does everyone keep on bringing up Bungie's name whenever they talk about H2Vista? For the umteenth time, Microsoft contracted Pi Studios and Hired Gun to do the PC convertion. Bungie had nothing at all to do with it's porting process.

Now about that linked post above yours.... that is a pointless bitching whine fest by a bunch of uninspired people who lack the creativity to find working solutions to a problem. It's easy to turn around and blame a company for not supporting a project. Hell, I have issues with their support as well. But, as a long time modder, I would never have started a bitch fest to complain about it, instead of finding solutions around the problems.

Halo 2 Vista because of the lack of editing tools, requires a map maker and tag creator that is above the general grade skill of most. For us over at the H2MT, we find solutions to combat the compiling tag issues, the not showing up maps etc.

Tools like the HEK for CE made making maps and custom creations easy...too easy. There was no real brainstorming behind finding ways to make tags work right, because the HEK gave you all the fields and compiling tools you needed. That alone is why most of the custom stuff from other titles, will never work properly and just plain sucks in game.

For us in halo 2 pc, we are forced to think outside the box of all tool types to make things new and work right. But again, if you are lazy and have no real passion for trying to understand how the blam! engine works or how to make tags without official tool support, then no. Halo 2 PC is not for you.

Dennis, please lock this thread. i think it has served it's purpose, and is now getting out of hand.

OK, keep developing for that dead game. Clearly you don't want to listen to logic.

What logic? That it is a dead game? That is simply an opinion that others force on people who enjoy the game, or simply like to bash the people that put effort into it. I dont develop things for H2 simply because I want impress anyone or for the community outside MM for that matter. We at the H2MT do it simply because we enjoy it, and for us getting awesome things done is just a personal thing.

Trust me, I have no interest in helping any community or person outside our group or friends who have no interest in the game. Nothing personal, it's just that there is no logic or view that will ever be correct or fact. People do what they do for their own reasons. Simple as that.
