K I was trying to merge all bsp's of Assault on the Control Room into one but of course I get this error which I think is due to its size but cold snap works just fine? Could it be the size or did I do something else wrong? Here is the error

10,000 polygons for a multiplayer map

make sure you have read this http://hce.halomaps.org/hek/ or you won't know much about what HEK is all about.

did you make a frame and link your map to the frame?

link messed up.

I did read HEK and my map is linked to frame. Any thing else that could cause it? I guess it is too big but Cold Snap I just checked and it is like 90,000 poly's or something close to that.

it would take someone that knows more about it to answer you further but i can say it wasn't easy for them guys to get it ingame.and i'm sure they didn't use normal tool for a start.

okay I checked Cold Snap again to confirm my estimate earlier and it is in fact

54,538 polygons. You said that the max was 10,000 but Cold snap is 5 times larger???

read hek 10,000 is what it says but i did throw the hint at another version of tool o.O


edit: portals seeing your map is quite big you could do with them or else the players will lag badly.

I do have portal as well. Thanks for the help?


Is the version of tool ++ or is it tool pro? I googled for other versions of tool but see they are not too popular and thus they are hard to find.

here are all the versions of tool i head of:
tool++:lets you compile maps,sounds,bitmaps etc without typing anything.
tool_pro:lets you go over the 128mb file size for mp maps.
toolio:lets you compile open edges.

I was trying to convert SP to MP but after what I hear it is impossible. Well I guess I will give it a couple more tries but I don't think I will be successful.



I am trying to convert b40 (Assault Control Room) into Multiplayer.

You might want to try a much smaller campaign level, like c10 (Guilty Spark) or c20 (The Library), instead of one of the largest.

If i'm reading the error correctly, somewhere in the bsp that you connected, there is a geometry error (collision or other) its saying that it can't place (texture? model?) to that area. Check collision geometrys, then check to make sure that all areas are accessable (rather than certain areas locked as they were in campaign). If its none of these it may be as simple as part of the bsps not lining up correctly and leaving a gap.
