Are you planning to make maps? Because for Halo Custom Edition, that's what modding is all about.

Download Halo Editing Kit (HEK), and it will install everything you need to mod a map. After said installation, there will be a folder called "tags" (without the quotes). This folder is where everything will be put - weapons, bipeds, vehicles, scenery, etc. after extracting a map using HEK+ - downloaded seperately.

There are tutorials available on the main site for you to download and watch, so I suggest looking into those if you really want to get started on modding.

I'm sure that there are people in this community that can be more of an assistance than I can.

Welcome to HaloMaps, by the way :)

Shall we play a game?

umm...the version of halo you downloaded...is it Custom Edition or Combat Evolved?

By saying that you are downloading mods, I would assume the version of Halo you have is Halo Combat Evolved, which I am afraid we do not support.
The version of Halo we do help with is Halo Custom Edition.

One way to find out what version you have (assuming that you haven't touched the ui.map file before) is to open the Halo program you have. Look at the main menu screen, and if you can see the Campaign button, it means that the version you have is Combat Evolved. Without that button, your version is Custom Edition.

halo custom edition mods and maps made from scratch are all in the same format, a .map file. its placed in the halo custom edition maps folder. if you downloaded any other file type then you wont be able to play it. if it was a tag then do what UBE chief said.
