im interested in making a star wars knights of the old republic mod for halo. i was interested in getting help from people who know about the map editing process for either kotor and halo and i wanted eventually to have a whole multiplayer and single player series of maps. if anyones into star wars or the games they release i want to have a team set up.

currently i need the following:

-people who can rip bsp data from kotor1 or 2 and

-model rippers and riggers
-biped animators, and people who can texture well.

-people who know about star wars and understand it. (i think theres a ton out there....)
-and anyone who has star wars old republic tags!

ANYONE WHO CONTRIBUTES WILL BE INCLUDED IN CREDITS AND WILL GAIN TAGS FROM THE MAKING OF THIS MOD!
as a start i have had one biped correctly made ingame from kotor! (thank you for your help Nebulon!!!)

just so you know this isnt movie based! this is based on two already games made by bioware (the same company who made mass effect and mass effect 2!!!)


also.... anyone interested please post here what your willing to contribute and what you already know.


new info. there have been maps ported to jk3. these maps contain all the things we need modelwise.

i have found a glm importer which allowes the bipeds to be imported with textures. this is how i got the bastila biped working. next. i got sounds from kotor. imported them for bastila. if anyone is good at modeling i have a few requests to continue with the WIP.

first. i have made multipurpose bitmaps for a texture mod to bastila. but it needs to have shine in parts. im new to multipurpose maps. but i think i have a good idea because of bourrins halo2 biped. i was able to use the same idea to make shaders for bastila.

i will be uploading shortly after i can figure out team color changing.

i have imported a sith soldier and he needs rigging. here you go,

Well, i made some kotor stuff in ce already.
Mandalore, from kotor2, rigged to mc boneset

The classic mandalorian


The sith fighter :


An almost done mandalorian fp (render)


I also have in game the republic fighter.
All ingame stuff is on a space map, a republic cruiser. you could notice the custom sky...
Vehicles have custom physics and anims...

Heavy edit : I'm french.

Well, there is a lot to say. I can rip everything in kotor 1-2, but bsps are highpoly and not adapted at all to a ce use. I could tweak them though...
The weapons are too low poly to be used in ce, someone haves to model them and have imagination for details. Lastly (apr 2010) i was porting speeders, swoops. I recently made Mandalore to practise rigging/shadering.
I built the ktmt ages ago. But i stopped because working alone is boring, even if i could manage the whole project alone, the force is with you to relieve it.

I'm busy actually with the illegal mapping team though (100% halo custom), but this kind of work is easy, so i can help.

omg! I WISH I KNEW THIS! im happy to see this! would you be interested in coninuing with this mod and possibly make specifically maps like kotor 1? i think it would be interesting if we could combine our efforts to make multiple old republic war maps. ive always been interested in the taris battle and the places that the party characters are from. maybe we can make republic soldiers fight sith ones? is it possible to make a whole total conversion simelar to the game republic commando? this would be EPIC!

I can give Force Unleashed, Republic Heroes, KOTOR I, KOTOR II, Republic Commando, Star Wars Galaxies (all expansion packs) and custom files if you want. I am a HUGE star wars fan. I actually have quite a few models already.

UPDATE!!!! THE BIPED IS IN GAME! THANK YOU NEBULON (your going into the credits) and im releaseing a weapon to go along with her :D now its not perfect i will tell you but considering the time it took to get her in game i finally have bastila shan in halo. i will be uploading the tags to halomaps very soon!

that would work well i do think. although the first person animations will have to be modified.
the colors needed (based on all the sabers in kotor)

red (haha funny i mention that one first.......)
blue
yellow
green
purple
orange
cyan

can we make this weapon use a third person animation?
and are animations universal per game? is there an easy way to get one biped from one game to use animations from other games? (a port if you will?)


OMG!!! I JUST HAD AN IDEA!!! is there a way to make the color of the blade match the characters armor? like on the cyborgmp.biped? EPIC



ALSO! i need help making a or getting a first person hands model. i was looking online for first person hands on a girl to match my bastila model. (no armored hands or gloves or anything. just bare arms...)

btw i uploaded bastila to halomaps yesterday, along with an mp40 that i happened to import from google sketchup.) im thinking of having bastila being one of the characters you play in the kotor mod.

also im thinking perhaps we can make the sith soldier and the republic soldier vairiants from kotor to be bipeds. but i will need someone like nebulon to help...

I'd really like to help with this. I do have some female models you could use, namely those from Halo and some random chick I'm using as a base model for my new Halsey variant. I could just edit them to give you some first person arms.

Really? Random maps? It seems to me that they want to create an organised series of new custom maps using Star Wars resources, according to the explanation of this thread.

Also, sup bourrin, is IMT working on anything atm? I'd like to see some of your work, quite a few people seem to think highly of you. From what I've seen, you seem to be quite experienced with modelling and animating.

But it's not the place to speak about that. Watch what you say before making a thread useless deviation.


Also i read "Kotor" So i guess it's not random SW things.

My project about kotor was making a map on Dantoine or Dxun, with red vs blue mandalorians (as story, extremist and "open minded" mandalorians.

It would feature a few weapons :

Blaster
Heavy mandalorian blaster (strong shots, slow ROF and overheat)
Blaster rifle ( kinda like BR)
Repetition blaster
Heavy repetition blaster
Sonic blasters (pistol and rifle) (Stuns, bounces on walls)
Ionic blasters (Fastly disables shields)
Disintegration blaster (Goes through shields, really dangerous, but shoots disappears when too far)

Thermal detonator (BIG BOOM, but rare.)
Frag grenades. (Boom.)

As vehicle, the small speeder you can see sometimes in the game, and the 2 seats one.
Maybe the swoop for race gametypes...

All the weapons models needs to be custom made. I'd be glad to animate them, because i suck at modeling.

"Would?!" as in, you cancelled it?

Anyway, I'm a HUGE Star Wars nerd. I personally think Republic Commando would be the best for a merging of both games. They're both FPSes. Geonosians could be drone replacements, droids/trandoshans could replace elites, trandoshans/wookies could replace brutes, clones could replace spartans etc.

KOTOR would still be good, though. Maybe a SP edit of Tusken_Raid for Tatooine, a city for Taris etc.?

Something I REALLY like the sound of is a war on Mandalore for a game. Lots of different Mandalorians fighting. There's already some that Bourrin made, and I could probably get some Jango/Boba Fett - style ones.

Blah I'm too lazy and I never really considered this.

And most likely people want to make a salad of random SW so. Most likely I'm on a computer that doesnt makes me like to do HCE stuff.

alright. im sorry i havent been online. ive been very busy but when i had spare time ive ive been trying to find a way to rip bsp models from kotor. unfortunately they dont make an OPEN GL RIPPING program that directly imports into 3ds. ive spent some time on this trying to figure it out. i did successfully decompile a jedi knight jedi accademy map thats based on kotorbut i dont know enough about the quake 3 engine to be much help. i can upload the files to see if anyones interested. i have one character model successfully complete. bastila shan is an ai character thanks to nebulons help. i still have many many projects going on and so id like some help doing some of this research.

spartan lay off all i am here is just a person trying to keep this thread alive and i am trying my best to learn how to to do all of this but my computer can run Halo CE and thats about it ok and i respect the people that do know how to make maps ok i just am a big kotor fan srrsly dude us CE people are better than that and thellt thanks for even starting this thread

I can rip BSPs from kotor, but those BSPs arent made with the same constraints as halo's, so they are basically useless.

And as I said before, ages ago, i cant do kotor stuff because I'm not on the right computer.

Also for bastila we have no female boneset

you bring up a good and strong point we would need some sort of expert at ce mapping and things alond that line the only one i can think of is OpsY right now but i have bad news he is almost never on any more so yeah..... i will get to work on learning to map and such (BUMP)

bastila is rigged just fine with the marine bones, thanks to nebulon. surprising how well marine bones work for her. its not perfect by any means, but it is a very good start. it would be helpful if he could help me finish off my models after i try to rig them. i dont know what it is im doing wrong. but he seems to know how to fix it. im also working on making a wwii soldier set using these bones for my other upcoming mod. i keep getting errors though when i try to import it into halo ce. (out of objects cannot place actor <soldier>)
