some servers i cannot connect to. on the ping readings on those servers nothing appears. i have a legit cd key so it cant be that. can anyone tell me why i cant connect to those servers and how i can? and my computer is 8-10 years old

I can't join more than half of the 1.00 servers. You're talking about those private servers with one guy in them, right? I guess they just don't open their ports or something.

no there are servers that arent the one person server and i cant join them and 8 other people are on

There are many factors that could contribute to you not being able to join servers, though usualy it's a serverside issue, which is out of your control. However, it could also be, in some cases a firewall blocking the connction. Try temporarily disabling a firewall to see if you can join one of these servers. Remember to turn it back on. If you could connect, that means you might have the client port blocked. Look for instructions on adding a trusted program to your firwall exceptions list. If you couldn't connect it's probably a server issue and you can't do anything about it.
