I thought they looked awesome, were awesome to fight, except a wee bit too hard to kill sometimes. Otherwise great. (h3 brutes were too easy).

Correction: Halo 3 brutes fun to kill, Halo 2 brutes had too much health, Halo Reach brutes too easy

I have to agree with that. Halo Reach brutes go down pretty easy....hell Skirmishers are more of a pain to kill than the brutes! Halo 2, they defiantly took a beating and then some, and then still melee'd your butt into oblivion. Halo 3, yeah........... a bit too easy. One overcharged plasma pistol, and a single br round to the skull.

Well, then again I was playing against the h2 brutes on Normal. But, I think overall, h2 style brutes with the visual awesomness of halo 3, and a little bit less health than in h2, but a little more than in h3 would be awesome.

Halo 3 brutes are fun on co-op legendary on odst. I completed it on easy, normal, heroic and legendary on solo and co-op on legendary. Such epicness

Much better concept than H3 or Reach brutes, but unfinished and therefore not too fun.

Visually, I actually preferred Halo 2's "Wookiee Brutes" to Halo 3/Reach's Power Armored Brutes. Maybe that's just me.

The Halo 2 Brutes were okay, but like Bungie said during Et Tu Brute, they were just damaged sponges. Though initially they were alright, the more I played them the less entertained I was by them and the more frustrated I became. The encounters were TOO demanding for high-powered weapons or headshot weapons and trying to mix it up past those weapons was simply too difficult past Normal difficulty.

In Halo 3, the Brutes were more complete and far more interesting to fight, or at least, better to fight than their H2 Counterparts. Yet they still lacked character to me; they were too much like AI that emulated what improved Brutes would be like. They were still too vague. Though for gameplay they were relatively complete/balanced/characterized, their characters really didn't show, thus dulling them and the Halo 3 experience a bit. If anything, the only Brutes that really matched that "bad-guy" feeling were the Captains simply because of their armor, their function, and how Bungie placed their posture.

Halo 3 ODST really defined the Brutes in terms of character. This change perfected the Brutes. They were fearsome, terrifying, and individually they were a cause for concern. Many people would deny this though, simply because they analyzed only gameplay portions, which really didn't change much since Halo 3 a couple years before. But if you listen to the Brutes and pay attention to how their character changes from the two games, you can tell just how perfected they became from ODST. They were a menacing villain in ODST, which was what was needed during Halo 3.

Completely agreed. And as for gameplay, the weaker ODST characteristics made them a legit enemy in terms of difficulty. Also the fact that they aren't soooooo hard to kill makes them more fun. In Halo 3, they were too easy, even on legendary you can run up to one and beat him down in two hits. In ODST, the Halo 1 satisfactory feel was brought back. :)
