Me and Bullet talk a lot behind the scenes about CE3 and we are preparing for the big boss. The stream! We are going to begin shooting machinima moments for it soon. Stuff such as the intro and outro to the stream. And once we get all the projects ready we will shoot the inbetween stuff. Next we have done a live stream test with Karasuro. I plan to do another one with him to be careful nothing will happen during the stream. We also have layout for our video promotions for the show, and a idea on how the show will flow together.

Welcome to the official Halo Custom Edition Entertainment Exposition for 2011 thread!

So what is CE3?
CE3 is to show off what the Halo CE community is up to. From maps to apps to simple little projects and animations. As long as its CE related.

So kinda like E3?
Somewhat like it, but there are differences in how our stuff is presented.

So when is CE3 2011?
CE3 is July 8th at 8pm Eastern Timing USA. 5pm PST.

So CE3 is just a bunch of trailers?
I guess in short, yes. But we have interviews with some exciting projects, and gameplay demos. We also have machinima portions in-between the trailers to keep the show running smoothly.

What big names are in CE3?
The attendees list is being kept a bit more secretive this year and instead to promote the show, were going to put out teasers for projects that seem interesting.

Will this show be on Youtube?
It and all extended trailers and interviews will be available on youtube throughout the weekend afterwards.

Whats the point of watching the live stream then?
You will have a chance to chat about the projects as they are happening. Also there will be a chance to win 1600 Microsoft Points to use at the Xbox Live Marketplace, Games for Windows Live Marketplace, or Zune Marketplace.

Last years live stream sucked, why should this years be any better?
Last year I had less than 24 hours to shove 3/4 of the projects into the show. A lot of machinima moments and interviews had to be cut, or opposite, stuff that dragged on wasn't cut down. This year anything submitted past 7/1 will be put on a waiting list, giving me time to actually work on the show.

Can I rewatch last years stream?

If you enter something into CE3 you will be put in a random drawing to earn 3 months of Xbox Live.

I want to submit something. How do I go about doing so?
Step 1: Make sure your project is worth presenting. Is your project just a simple blood gulch mod, campaign mod, or a random worth nothing app? If so it might be rejected. If whatever isn't all exciting, but has enough potential to show, it may be presented in a cut-down or VO format for the live stream. If your unsure if we will reject you or not before you go out and make a trailer just simply contact MatthewDratt over Xfire or here on Halomaps.
Step 2: Now that your project is worth showing off, make sure you have the ability to record. If you are unable to record what you want, you can send MatthewDratt (Xfire/Halomaps) your project and Dratt has a beast PC so he can record it for you, and even send the files back if you want to edit it yourself. You can make a trailer or gameplay demo for maps, a commentary or demo for apps, or trailers or segments for Machinimas.
Step 3: Now that your video is perfected simply send it to MatthewDratt (Xfire/Halomaps). He will receive it and put it in the show. You can directly send it to him, dropbox it, or mediafire it.

What format should the video be?
The stream will be presented in 16:9. But if you are only able to record in 4:3 DO NOT stretch to fit 16:9. Simply send the video in the 4:3 format.

Preferred resolutions:
16:9 Formats (Widescreen)
360p: 640x360 (Minimum)
480p: 856x480
720p: 1280x720
1080p: 1920x1080 (Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000)
1080p: 1440x1080 (Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.333)

4:3 Formats (Square)
360p: 480x360 (Minimum)
480p: 640x480
720p: 960x720
1080p: 1440x1080

What should the framerate be?
Please keep the framerate to 60FPS Maximum and 25FPS Minimum. If you are unable to record at these speeds MatthewDratt (Xfire/Halomaps) will be more than willing to record the video for you and send you the files back to edit. If you want to show off something specifically you can send a low framerate video that Dratt can try to copy.

What should the file-type be?
Any common video file openable by Sony Vegas. .WMV, .MOV, .MP4 are the most preferred formats. .AVI's are fine if it uses a common codec.

Where should I upload my video?
The best places to do so are Dropbox, and Mediafire. Or a direct send over Xfire or Skype.

How long should my video be?
We have always gone with a 'not to long' type of response for this. This is simply because it all depends on how exciting your project is. We hope you are responsible enough to decide how long you need to get your point out there. From 30 seconds to 5 minutes if you need. As long as you keep your video entertaining. Though, to keep the live stream running at a smooth pace we may indeed need to cut your video down during the live stream. Your video uncut will be available on youtube for everyone to see if they want to check out your project more.

How do I know if my video is entertaining?
Do not drag on your video. We don't need ever square inch of your map, just the exciting moments. For single player gameplay demos, show off the big encounters or bosses. Or what makes your single player map stand out. For multiplayer gameplay demos, maybe show off some online matches in some of your favorite areas of the map. For apps give a quick demo of what it does. Don't drag on about how it does it or anything.

Can I get an interview?
Just have a mic ready and contact SlayerMaster/SlowBullet and we will set up a time on Skype to record.

Does my project need to be finished?
No. WIP is completely fine to show at CE3.

If Firefight-Descent ever gets done before the date of the showing, may I still enter it into CE3 and release the day after? Kinda like with my multiplayer map from last year. It might be pushing it though. I know that it will be what it needs to be at the end of this month. Just wondering because I am still interested in entering.
