A friend requested this, and since I remember it was aggravating at first to not have it, here it is, feel free to add your two-cents:

The vehicles in race, are not controlled by the settings in sapien nor in gametype setup in the halo lobby. It is true that you must place a netgame flag where you want the vehicle, and it's orientation (green = facing direction) in sapien but, the halo ce engine itself is what determines which vehicle spawns, and sometimes players and vehicles don't spawn correctly in race. This is why Infinity has players and vehicles for both teams spawn at the same base; otherwise, players may spawn at one base, and vehicles at the other. For race, I suggest a central location for both player spawns and vehicle spawns, but equal distance from first navigation point (also a netgame flag) Race Flags are numbered in their order for navigation starting with zero (0,1,2,3 etc) but vehicles are numbered for their team (0 for red, 1 for blue) Both teams should have equal number of player and vehicle spawns. As the most common server gametype accomodates 12 players, you should place 6 player spawns per team, and 3-4 vehicles netgame flags per team. But, if you have ever setup a game type, the maximum number of vehicles that spawn for race is 8 (4 per team) so setup 4 per team.

Both your globals.global file (edit with guerilla) and your scenerio (edit with sapien and guerilla) must have the same vehicles. In sapien, you can place any quantity of a variety of vehicles - and see them in sapien. But if the vehicles you place in sapien, are not also in your globals, they will not spawn. In all games but race, you must also select each vehicle in sapien, select both check boxes "Slayer Allowed" and "Slayer Default" to have the vehicle spawn in that gametype by default. If "Allowed" is not checked, the vehicle will not spawn regardless if it is in both globals and the scenario for all game types.

Globals setup. Think of each vehicle as a "slot" and whichever vehicle is in that slot, will spawn to match the gametype setup. So, the FIRST vehicle slot is the Chain hog. If you put a turret in this slot, a turret will spawn where you think a chain hog would spawn. So follow this slotting, and remember, whatever vehicle you place in these slots, will appear when you select the vehicle in gametype setup (for map cycles in servers). The game engine will only allow up to, and not more than 6 vehicles in the globals/scenario (more can be spawned, but only by custom scripting).

Slot 1: Typically the Chain Hog (mp_warthog) Race Slot 1
Slot 2: Typically the Ghost (ghost_mp) Race Slot 2
Slot 3: Typically the Scorpion tank (scorpion_mp)
Slot 4: Typically the Banshee (banshee_mp)
Slot 5: Typically the Gun Turret (c gun turret_mp)
Slot 6: Typically the Rocket Hog (rwarthog) Race Slot 3

Note: In Sapien, when you place a vehicle in Slayer, CTF, Oddball or King, you are placing a unit/vehicle, and you will see the vehicle. But for race, you are placing a netgame flag, and will not see the vehicle in the game window, only the name of the vehicle in the hierachy view. So, because of this, if you place the player spawn, and vehicles too close, the vehicle will spawn and kill the player. So first, place your race vehicles (unit/vehicle) so you can see where you placed them, then setup the player spawns for race, then setup the netgame flags for vehicles in exactly the same spot where you placed the unit/vehicle, then delete the visible unit/vehicle and leave the net game flags where you placed them, compile your map, then test the default race, if setup correctly, the vehicle should not kill you when you spawn, and the right vehicle should appear.

I love race. Thanks for the info! I was always unable to get the 2nd and 3rd race vehicle working properly in some of my "race" maps as they either do not appear, or appear as different vehicles.
