The connection may have blocks in it set up to prevent downloading.

Indeed. Of course I have never gotten any of my connections to host games properly, even with all the correct firewall settings...

Quote: --- Original message by: MoooseGuyPort forward? Please explain. A home router is actually connecting two separate networks together. The internet on the outside and a private lan on the inside. The default settings of all home routers is to allow you to connect out but not allow connections in. This is done for security. To run a game server you have to allow people to connect in and to do that you need to configure the router to allow connections from the outside to connect to certain ports on specific IP addresses on the inside. This is referred to as port forwarding where you forward the ports on the external IP address to a specific IP or machine on the inside. Each router has different ways of accomplishing this so you need to refer to your routers manual for instructions.

@moooseguy,with most routers nowa days you can go into the port forward section, there you will see an application drop down box, click it and you should see most modern games in the list, now i think that means the ports are known and will be opened for the one you select but i'am not 100% sure if that is the way it works.
