I think Dennis might be the only visitor here old enough to get the reference, a few others might if they've seen the movie. Unless the (from what I've heard, god-awful) remake kept that part... Magnum? If not I am wrong. Quote: --- Original message by: Sergeant MajorHere's a pic of the concept. Very sloppy sketch, took me 30 min. But it serves its purpose. And what do you think that many people are on this site? I bet at least half of people that play M rated games are about 14 and under. My nephew started at 6 so top that. This also coming from a nephew who called his dad an @** hole at 2 and a half yeas and used it in context because my brother in law WAS being one at the time.

You all are in for a HUGE surprise... And no I won't tell anyone except people I trust really well until MP-018 is all said and done. What is wrong with combining guns and women? Samus, Laura Croft, Cortana(?), Alyx, and so many others( that I can't think of at the moment). Can we get back to names for the guy? Also Armor suggestions would be useful. Any biped modelers wanna help meh? EDIT: ANyway I guess I have enough names for now. I am going to call him "Slick" for the most part (Not telling why though ) so you won't find his name until later. That is to say his "real" name. Edited by Skidrow925 on Nov 9, 2010 at 11:45 PM

Edited by Sergeant Major on Nov 9, 2010 at 09:12 PM with all due respect drop the anime style. you'll never be taken seriously as an artist if you cling to the overly polished, soulless, emotionless, overused look of Anime. People who try to perfect the Anime style rarely ever become as impressive as western artists. your background makes no sense. I can't tell what's going on. The gun looks like it was just slapped in there, with no attempt to make it look remotely 3D. Your character porportions are way off. Your face and eyes have that horrible unrealistic anime look to them that any serious artist should avoid at all costs. You need to practice depth, basic shapes, anatomy, and things like perspective and vanishing points. http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/6584/sketches.pnghttp://img24.imageshack.us/img24/9215/sketches3.pngsomething I whipped up for demonstration purposes. it's crap, I don't know spartan armor, and I'm not much of an artist myself, but you should see a significant margin of quality. you can do this crap too easilly if you practice what I've mentioned above. As for the picture, it was slapped together without much thought. I guess the only thing that matters it what the artist wants right??

It really is hard to take your concepts seriously when your drawings look so... odd. Don't use the "It took me five minutes" excuse - If you know it's horrible, why bother posting it? Surely not for criticism, judging by how badly you took that guy's crit.

Surely not for criticism, judging by how badly you took that guy's crit. Doompig, I posted it solely to give a visual representation of my idea. Text is boring. And I'm not going to debate with you on the in and outs of drawing, I used no refs, no nothing, and whipped it up. I made it clear I did not want crit, in addition to disliking this individual in particular. And don't "l2 take crit". I know how to take crit, when I want it. Certainly not on something I have barely put any effort into. I'm also not going to explain any of this to you, as this is offtopic already. Feel free to have the last word. While I will admit this has been interesting I would rather not have this locked or anything like that. So accordingly would DP444 and Sgt.Maj. mind using PM's instead of giving Dennis a reason to lock this? /offtopic I thank you for all the names. I think i have enough now. -Skidrow

Likewise. at what point did I tell you you were "wrong"? and yes, your sketch was a load. oh and you also didn't mention the fact that I told you what you should practice to help you improve. if you want to take other people's drawings as a form of competition instead of something co-operative and helpful then go right ahead, push away anybody trying to help you learn more about art. I'd suggest however that you get out of your hole of "everybody is against me" and learn to take some advice Edited by HaloIsAHorribleGane on Nov 10, 2010 at 09:20 PM
