Maybe you should try not playing Halo, and actually test to see if Halo is the culprit.
If it is, then you should try setting your options all to the lowest possible.

i have a huge problem with halo: this has only started to happen recently. Sometimes, when I play halo, my computer overheats and crashes! And before you say " ITZ UR COMPUTUHZ NOT HALOZ", it ONLY happens when i play halo. please help!
If your PC is overheating it may be because one or more of your fans have either stopped working or are clogged with dust. You should check the fans especially the one on your video card if it has one. You can also purchase third party slot fans to help cool your system something like http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3516736&CatId=804

Video games will push the video processor more than normal applications like word or excel which will generate additional heat and heat is the enemy of electronics. Keeping your system cool means making sure you have adequate air flow around the vents of the PC so that heat can be expelled from the case.
