Is there any way to delete sound tags without having to extract the entire map?
A map I downloaded from here I absolutely love, but some of the sounds are very annoying (air raid siren, etc.) and I want to remove them. I've been trying all day to no avail, read many tutorials, and frankly, I'm stumped.
Am I just too dumb to edit the map? Or is there some way that isn't posted here.

sorry man, theres pretty much nothing you can do about it. if you decompile, remove the sounds, and recompile like geared said, your map will have a different checksum than the map the server is running, and thus you will not be able to connect to the server with your modified map.

maybe there is a way to mute them but leave em in so it doesn't have the checksum issue?

send me the map and maybe i can try. i can change the distance of how far the sound travels to 0.0001 if you want, effectively muting it, pretty much
