After sifting through my history book during class, I found several pictures depicting combat in World War I. I was struck with inspiration, and decided to try and achieve a similar effect in Halo: Custom Edition. While I lack some of the skills required to produce the things I require, I was hoping the community could assist in those areas. Here's my mental layout as of yet:
•Each team's "base" consists of a network of trenches. •The weapons will consist of a heavy-hitting semi-automatic rifle, a light pistol, and a portable M247 GP Machine Gun. There will also be a small number of anti-tank rifles. •Each team's trench will have multiple machine gun emplacements to provide cover for anyone compelled to venture into "No-Man's Land". •The area between the opposing trenches will be littered with foxholes and wreckage to provide a limited amount of defense against enemy fire. •Tanks will be much slower, but more heavily armored, which may result in deflection of smalller-caliber ammunition. •There will also be a limited amount of fighters, outfitted with a pair of 50 Caliber Machine Guns.
As you can see, I'll need a custom BSP. There are a small amount of trench-warfare maps available for Custom Edition, but after some experimentation, have proven to be too flawed for an enjoyable game. I'll also need a semi-automatic rifle tag. I want it to look as if it was part of the Halo-canon, so it will probably need to be custom. So, what do you guys think? Anyone willing to gimme a hand? I suggest making this an SP, or at least an MP with bots for solo play. If your gonna make that WW1 feel, you gotta have constant MG fire going off, even if their not shooting at anyone, you also need landmines and fog.

I have sound files to replace the normal ambience, and you can hear gunfire in the distance. And playing against actual, intelligeant players would make it more fun than a Single Player.
Landmines may be a possibility, but people tend to spam them, and they lag a lot.

Well thing is, that gunfire in the distance, is rather gonna be right over your head every single second of every single minute.

It will be, considering each team not only has multiple 50 caliber machine gun emplacements, but also several field cannons for bombarding the opposing trench with artillery. >:D

No, I'd look n00bish. :P
I want it to have a fair amount of detail, if possible, but yeah, it would mostly be a few rolling hills, some foxholes and craters, and of course the all-important trenches. I can add the scenery and stuff myself.

Well, I tried that once. My 3DS really doesn't like to cooperate when I try to add vertices and such. >_<
