Each tick is the equivalent of 1/30th of a second.

It's frames.
30=1 sec. 60=2 sec. 150=5 sec. 900=30 sec. 1800=1 minute for those who can't do math

It's actually ticks. Frames would be assuming that the player locked their settings down at 30 fps (silly them). If we were running at 60 fps, even though the human eye can only perceive 30 fps, then it wouldn't be based on frames anymore, would it?

I always think of them as frames though when setting up an animation or dialog for a cutscene. Just a simpler way I remember it

I guess you could, as one tick is the equivalent of one frame in 3DS Max. However, once you go into HEK, they're considered as ticks.
