I am in the middle of making a map, but there is something im 90% sure is possible. I want to make it so if you spawn on the red team, your a spartan, and if you spawn on the blue team, your an elite. Is there any way to do this, and if there is, could you give me a step - by step tutorial on how to do it? Thanks in advance.

(sorry spartn) but you can download Elite_MP which basically you play as an Elite and it has the bones of Spartans but then again! i dont know how to make red team spawn as Spartans and blue team as Elites (i think it has to do with the globals.globals)

Can't you just make it so when you spawn as one color, it makes you one biped, and as another color, another biped? I saw that on a map, where depending on your color, you are a different kind of master chief.

You can ask kirby, if he's not busy that is. I remember I asked him for a script on how to do this and he helped me with it, but I think both bipeds will have to have the same bones and animations, so probably download the elite MP biped tag.

Essentially; No you can't have two different models for players in the game. In a multiplayer map the players all use the same model with different permutations for color. Some people have tried messing with the permutations but they don't sync can't be scripted and it has not been accomplished. So no you can't. Edited by Dennis on Jul 8, 2010 at 12:47 PM

I mean that i have played a map where it is a different master chief model depending on your color! Like depending on your color, you have different halo 3 master chief armor. It's halo 3 sandtrap, try it. Edited by linemaniac231 on Jul 8, 2010 at 05:12 PM

That is done the same way the marines are like have a hat or don't have a hat.. I am not sure exactly how it works. But that is how it happens.

That's because the spartan permutations use the same bones. The elites don't have the same bones. I read what the emo said about the elite MP tags, but the truth is, they still use elite animations and bones; they're just tweaked to carry every weapon.

There is a way! And not just any way. MY WAY. Sorry. 1: Make/find an elite with the cyborg bones. 2: In a 3D program, import the chief with his bones and markers. 3: Export as .jms in a new folder for this biped. 4: Do the same for the elite. MAKE SURE THEY HAVE THE SAME BONES! 5: Export to the same folder. SAME! 6: Tool that shid 7: You now have a 2-perm model. Perm 1 is MC, 2 is leet. 8: Make a script to get your teeam and set the perms.
I did it all, almost finished rigging a brand-new elite. To be released when I'm done, w/ script. I'm posting this so someone else could do this for their own elite if they wanted.

Permutations don't sync in multiplayer. I use the same 'playernum' system that backpacking weapons use. I realize it's not really 'snyching' that way, because the host and client don't transmit data for them, but if it's team-specific, you just set the permutation based on the team. If you only wanted it in ctf, you would check the 'cannot be chosen randomly' flag on the elite perm in the gbxmodel. EDIT: Did it. Syncs on my network. Lol, took like 10 minues or so. ;;This script will make the blue team player spawn as elites.
;;Make sure you've set the player to be the spartan-elite. The elite permutation should be named 'leet', but you can change that at the very
end of the script. ;;Check the 'cannot be chosen randomly' flag on the elite perm in the gbxmodel. (using guerilla, obviously.) ;;Place trigger volumes over every blue team spawn point. Don't worry if you make them too big... ;;As long as they don't touch red spawn points. ;;Make the volumes BLUESPAWN1, BLUESPAWN2, BLUESPAWN3... ;;You can even put one volume over SEVERAL blue team spawns. ;;Needless to say, this only works for ctf. ;;Advanced scripters could add to this, making several elite perms, or flip this to be the red team. ;;More instructions are in the script, below.
(global short plyrnum 0)
(script continuous increase_plyrnum (begin (set plyrnum (+ plyrnum 1)) ) )
(script continuous reset_plyrnum (if (= (> plyrnum 15) true) (begin (set plyrnum 0) ) ) )
;;Okay, that's it for stealing from the backpacking script. Now for my parts:
(script continuous team (if (< (unit_get_health (unit (list_get (players) plyrnum)) );;Slappy did this .001)
(begin (sleep_until (= (unit_get_health (unit (list_get (players) 0))) 1)) (if (or
;;Add the name of all the blue team spawnpoint trigger volumes here... (volume_test_object BLUESPAWN1 (unit (list_get (players) plyrnum))) (volume_test_object BLUESPAWN2 (unit (list_get (players) plyrnum))) (volume_test_object BLUESPAWN3 (unit (list_get (players) plyrnum)))
;; ^^ Copy and paste those lines right there for more trigger volumes. ^^ ;;EVERY and ONLY blue team spawn volumes should be listed there.
);;/or
(object_set_permutation (unit (list_get (players) plyrnum)) "" leet) );;/if );;/begin );;/ big if. )
;;"If a player dies, wait until he is alive and check to see if he's in a blue spawn point. If so, change him to be an elite.
;;You should know how to compile scripts. Copy this into notepad, save as, and save this into Halo custom
edition\data\levels\yourlevel\scripts ;;Make sure that's the directory. In sapien, go to file>compile scripts, save.
Edited by SlappyThePirate on Jul 9, 2010 at 10:35 AMANOTHER E: This compiled properly, but I typed the tutorial stuff after. If there is a problem compiling, just delete my tutorial stuff. Edited by SlappyThePirate on Jul 9, 2010 at 10:37 AM

I tried the bluestreak jms exporter, and it didn't work. If it exported to 100% it worked. Press F11 and copy all the text there into notepad, save as jms (NOT as txt). So it's leet.jms. Cyborg in same folder. Also, grunt's method is cool, but you will also have to get that weapon. I thought of using a biped, but really, I didn't think an attatched biped would shoot.

What I did was load the gbxmodel of cyborg into gmax, than tried to use bluestreak jms exporter to save it. What happened was that it said "there is no geometry to export" or something like that. What did you use to export it?
