hey, (sry for bad english ;)) im going to write an vb.net application, which download, unrar and copy hce maps automatically. my question: its dificult to create a list of hce maps from halomaps.org automatically, so, is there a "list" of entrys, with id, name and download url? so its easier to make the app.
if not, could i download maps, to my own server, but i would write something like "maps from halomaps.org and..."?
greeting, nico

Halo Maps does not allow direct linking to the maps nor do we support automated downloads. Anyone doing so will be IP banned from our download server.

is there any other way? Host your own download server. Just so you know we transfer over 12 terabytes a month in files so be sure t is a big one with alot of bandwidth.

There is no need for this program. the database must be copyed MANUAL this way that would be mannyTERRAbyte of data! You would have to syncronizize the files that are new in this database to your own all the time MANUALLY! So if a new map is released you have to put a copy on your sever aswell and quick to avoid people waiting for you if they use the program.
In short DON"T EVEN TRY IT! It's hopless! What you can do is makeyour own index of the halomaps database. Just a database whit links names and descriptions that can be accesed trough some programm. I think Dennis is just scaring you off a little since you can give a direct download link ofcourse. No automated download but all left for the user to do is click download and save the file. However such an index is also not needed since the site itself already has a seache option which uses: TADAAAA AN INDEX! So the index is already made in the site itself.
Let the idea die it won't be usefull in any way. Edited by Niels on Jun 30, 2010 at 09:28 AM

You can link to the file's page but not directly to the file. Example: http://hce.halomaps.org/?fid=175 however if you try to link directly to the bloodislands.zip file in a month the link will be invalid since we periodically change it.

That doesn't sounds nesesarry... Why always moving all data from page to page or changing the index numbers?
